He had noble warriors death but dude was absolute monster he was hydra/hand. As character there was no real rehabilitation that gets you to forget his background and while this applies to a lot people on Krakoa how he went out was respectable, Now if they bring him back they have a chance to go it is a "different" Gorgon. Gorgon dying was the best thing for character even if he made bad guy again, He shouldn't have the same Hydra background expressly put on him. It is would be a little easier to root for him in the future.
And real MVP of tourny is White Sword, who look like he would be a interesting Protagonist or Antagonist in the future of X-books. Or at worse in just Wolverine book, White Sword has powerset for interestingly gruesome battles against Wolverine.
White Sword was a plot device to get the Krakoan score level with the Arakkoan score. Gorgon was definitely the MVP. I see White Sword reviving Gorgon but intentionally leaving his individuality intact as a mark of respect for a fellow true warrior.

Originally that name would only a recent one (along with the idea of having horsemen), he had gone by many names in the past as he mostly pretended to be deities of human civilizations to mess with them. His actual claim to fame is have access to a bunch of celestial technology.
Being immortal and unkillable and able to turn into anything and crazy-strong seemed pretty badass a couple thousand years ago, before all these reality manipulators started cropping up. Plus he used Celestial tech to level up and can throw zaps and stuff now too. (He's been shown levitating, teleporting, pretty much the standard 'everything I could think of' power suite that Eternals get as a prize for showing up.)
