Honestly I know little about Avatar and while I went into the fight with Storm who I wanted and thought to win, I go worried after the breakdown of Korra's skills, the Avatar in no pushover by far. But after the explanation of Storm's feet's I felt much better being given both familiar and new feet's of Storm's I was not familiar with, especially the Cosmic Level stuff, I was comfortable again with our girl's chances, still was nervous during the battle, but after the smirk by the end Storm Gave I knew it was done, EPIC!

I saw this at the end of my shift at work today and it was a good way to end the work day, Congrats to the Goddess Storm for an Epic Victory I was cheering for to the Moments end!
avatar is one of my all time favorite shows. now avatar especially in the avatar state is no joke. I think the problem that I believe the video adequately captured is that the avatar has at best maybe continent level feats while storm has planetary/cosmic feats. with benders they typically have to do movements with their bodies before the can cast their bending and their powers generally work on a local level. ororo doesn't have to be anywhere near you to send swarms of tornadoes down on you. I think the video did korra justice by nerfing storm in many ways to make it a fair fight.

the smirk storm did was one of my favorite parts. after being counted out and seemingly helpless she with less than a conscious thought sent a wave a lightning bolts atop korra setting the patth for ororos win. thank you cj for the commentary, even though predictable it was nice to see storm win this.

absolutely. I'm glad we've seen some use of this but it definitely needs to become a main stay. ice shield, em shield, pressure shield or even creating pressure barrier that automatically repels her oppon8from her making her virtual unable to be hit. there are lots of ways they can do this.

Well people reign of x is over along with the year of storm as of spring destiny of x is going to begin. With her apparent last xbook coming next month what has been our favorite storm moment from reign. Mine was when she helped teraformed mars now arakko.

some sins are worse than others and that was definitely atop the list lolol.

I wonder if that plays a factor in her not taking the easy way out and just being resurrected? Like she'll be missing a piece of herself if she's brought back.

Well if this was the year of Storm I want a refund lol. Or at least half my money back! What did she actually do? All they did was tack on yet ANOTHER title on her already long list of titles. Besides sounding important at social functions, it really doesn't give me any sort of meat to dig into. I'm not saying it's the end of the road but with Sword ending and no concrete news on where Storm is headed I'm pretty much twiddling my thumbs.

I think the issue is SWORD is a comprehensive look at the role mutantkind is playing in the current Marvel space age. That’s not a bad thing at all but it means Storm’s only gonna get so much shine when you have to worry about Brand’s machinations against ORCHIS, galactic wars billions of miles away, and the other cosmic stuff going on. Storm has a valuable role to play in all that as we’ve seen but it’s not amounting to much other than power displays.

We still haven’t truly dug into what it means for her to be entrenched in the ancient warrior culture of Arakko outside her “proving herself” by dispatching irrelevant mutants that we probably aren’t gonna care about in a few years. And outside the Shi’ar princess fawning over her and a dinner with Doom we haven’t exactly seen Storm do too much as a stateswoman. There’s a lot there to her role as regent of Sol but it was never gonna be realized to the fullest extent if she didn’t have a solo to dig into her mind and set up compelling personal conflicts.

Bc right now it’s just competence porn from her, which was much needed after years of neglect but it’s a far cry from the multilayered story telling that made her iconic to begin with. Hopefully this new relaunch of the X-line has some sort of project based solely around Storm/Arakko since it seems they’re willing to give every mutant with a halfway decent “niche” a mini (like Nightcrawler or Cable.) But if we don’t get that I think people should accept Storm is just gonna be throwing bigger lightning bolts on Mars for the next few years, which is unfortunate but not nearly as bad as where she was pre-Krakoa.

Maybe Ewing turns it around though, he clearly understands that people want a competent Storm. It’s just a matter of building on that with actual characterization and interesting plot threads that aren’t reliant on her beating up Arakki.

    Lololol. ur so silly.

I think to be fair the xoffices did mention (i thought) this story around storm would be told over a few years. I thought Duggan mentioned that but if thats the case it may be too early to get anxious though I understand your sentiment. I will say let's see what December brings. a little birdie mentioned storm makes an appearance in a book that drops tomorrow and that may have some implications in other aspects of the mu.

Ahahha lol on the refund but Im happy she slapped a doom for once -- I never knew I needed that even...but I agree if this is what X is saying as the year of the storm they owe us a half a year even -- Hellfire gala was like already July -- from the tease we got her sick and fighting as usual -- all it that half year and even before GSX gave me are nervous break downs and a lot of prayer sessions she wont be egging tombstone the entire 2021 -- well at least till July.....i said I forgive Marvel for the Logan focus since the TAS return announcement but seeing the incoming Wolverine titles list is giving me back that nauseated feeling -- again they held back, and all we can get from BP side now is one quick issue in January coz the hell BP might not want to have Storm back after x offices scored a steal anyway saying they want her back -- on the fucking background -- but sure sure thanks for the title -- now give us a solo or caveat if she is that "important mutant" Wolverine is gonna save -- well hold back its still back ground but come on -- who else? Moira again? Destiny? Wanda? Ugh...

I can understand that 1,000% and I don't blame Ewing for what I feel has been a mostly lackluster "year of Storm". Sword was never and should never been just HER book. Brand's personality alone is too big for that to happen and then you toss in the other players and it's just one big cacophony of voices all trying to be squeezed into a 25 page book. Someone is always going to get the short straw or have their piece of the plot watered down. But I agree, Storm's voice and role as regent is valuable and I can appreciate them giving her that agency. My (and I stress to anyone reading this MY) thing is I like power and feats. I like seeing Storm do these amazing displays of power and/or precision. This is what peaks my interest in a book involving her. Now I'm not saying to hell with any character development, but if I'm being blunt, character development doesn't win fights in or outside of comics.

All good points and I agree especially about the solo. This is where I thought she would end up after the Regent role was fully announced since she has never been in a better position to fully flex everything she has. Power, personality, character... its all just waiting to show up and show out.

Yeah, I still have hope with Ewing. It's not as bright as it was when we first started but it is there and especually if we look back and see where Storm was before.

    Lol!

I hope you're right because like I mentioned above, this is probably the biggest position of power Storm has ever been in and I'd hate to see it just sit there and collect dust. And spill the tea please! I need a dose of serotonin!

Lmao I'm glad you found me amusing.

But yeah I learned a bit ago that Wolverine is always going to lead the X-Franchise. I don't care what's going on or what event is happening that will change the X-men/MU or w/e, Wolverine will always be there and more than likely a key player.

And the power displays are all lightning lass with cloud hair and now, blizzard broad? Anyways as the "year of storm" I guess they laid ground work but with everyone and their grandmother getting a title even omega sentinel from the looks of it I am not really certain Ewing's book is not doing well and marvel is a profit making business first a story telling company last or whatever. They would only tell stories which the public seems to eat up and from how storm was treated badly in xmovies this has abd will affect comic sales.

That storm solo and I feel wrong for saying this doesn't seem to be in the horizon anytime unless the upcoming tvshow does very well, case in point wanda who was kinda unpopular and infamous but since wandavision especially has become hot cakes for marvel. So much so that trial has very high sales compared to both marvel and DC comics and the story itself is meh. Same goes for wolverine and basically all the xmovies and cardio with her movie and the guardians after their second movie though theirs have died down since in truth they are kinda meh in comics.

Anyways here is to the future solo title whenever it may be and I pray it at least comes in our lifetimes.

Chris said "so far all we have seen her do is throw lightning and summon hurricanes and winds, but she can do far more" this was like 1979! And her famous ancestral bloodline which we won't know much of till well...till.

When Duggan says something I seriously do not listen. I literally tune him out. I banish the thoughts. Because Duggan is all talk no show when it comes to storm. I mean he seriously had her for 20 issues and did literally nothing with her except make her absent lightning lass. The last issue was like meh to me. Oh and them the planet sized xmen stunt it was one panel she molded a climate. I really thought storm would play a more inntiative role in terraforming a planet seeing as she the only omega from krakoa that can connect to a planet. But oh well let's give magneto his power orgasm l guess. Sooo far his omega omega statement is still just that s statement. And I pray he doesn't get his hands on storm for as long as he writes in marvel... Amen. Especially after seeing what he did to nature girl.

When is Storm's demon days coming out?

The schism where it was he and Scott at logger heads didn't make sense fundamentally to me because yh they do not like each other but that was always tied strongly to Jean and his reckless way of living. on the other hand storm and Scott have very different styles of leading mutantkind and that has put them at odds many times in the past they literally had to fight for leadership once. So storm just being background wall paper in that even made absolutely no sense as this involved literal children! But oh well I guess if storm was his opponent he wouldn't have stood a chance of winning or getting his point across. Still trash though.

Also is it just me or does storm feel like a ceremonial figure head. And this doesn't even have anything to do with power displays and ****, but actually with the literal overarching plot. Because space isn't her **** from what I have seen brand is running that show and she as a council member literally wasn't doing anything as the council gets vetoed and double crossed all the time by its own members, citizens and krakoa itself. And she on arakko with the arakkii so they are earth protecting soldiers now? That's their entire purpose? Like bruh. What gives me hope is tarn and ludos logos look like they are not the type to play second fiddle when the main plot is literally THERE!

Anything from Duggan isn't something I'd believe. His best work has been fanservice. Emma, Kate and Jean so far, maybe Polaris will join them but Storm didn't.She was getting beat by Batroc lol.All his storm comments is pandering so far, pandering which he hasn't delivered in the actual comics.

Magneto makes sense to me, but Storm should have been more than what they gave her.Maybe she should have been the one regulating it all and giving feedback on what the planet needs to sustain life or smth.

Wolvie made sense but execution was bad, I'd rather have storm than how they did it w/ Wolverine.

No Storm in it at all except the preview page at the end but the book was great for that very reason. It was the most in depth i feel i've gotten about tchalla since i don't know when. I was suprised how good issue one is. His voice is VERY strong. And i think this is the FIRST time we are getting HIS view on the changes to HIS country. I will definitely be getting issue 2.
