But, again, Gunn has been in charge long enough that, if this was counter to his plans, he could have ordered the scene be taken out. Yet he didn't. And the characters that show up in the scene are characters that he's currently playing with. So, it may not be a sure thing that he has plans for Shazam, but the scene means it's possible.
There's really nothing vague about him saying that the rumors of him recasting everyone except for TSS were "untrue" and literally saying he's "not recasting everyone except the Suicide Squad."
Screen Shot 2023-03-18 at 3.17.25 PM.jpgFollowing weeks of rumors that DC Studios' new CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran were recasting nearly every DCU character, the filmmaker took to Twitter to debunk these claims. Gunn noted that the theory being pushed around social media is "untrue," reaffirming that the pair are "not recasting everyone except The Suicide Squad."
That's not vague beating around the bush. That's a straight denial.
So, yes, that means that some of the characters that he hasn't worked on are making the transition over. It's probably gonna Wonder Woman and/or Aquaman, but Shazam is possible too.
People on this forum just really want to see a full reboot so they're wishing really hard for it even though Gunn has said that's not what he wants to do.

Looks like Gal is in Aquaman 2:
https://www.cbr.com/shazam-star-spoi...meo-aquaman-2/
The scenes didn't need to be taken out because they were done is a way to not really set up anything seriously and are open-ended enough that giving them a pay-off or not in another film doesn't make a difference.
1st scene: spoilers:end of spoilers 2nd scene: spoilers:
Billy gets asked to join the JSA, he starts acting as an idiot, Harcourt and Ecomonos roll their eyes and leave him talking alone. He could as much as he couldn't join the JSA after. it's not a serious scene anyway. end of spoilers
it address what's up with Mr. Mind and Sivana after all these years: Mr. Mind is still making plans without doing any move, pissing off Sivana who is still left imprisoned for some more years.
It's a self-contained movie if you don't try to read too much into humorous scenes like these. Aquaman 2 and The Flash were the ones ending with actual cliffhangers and could end up being altered by Gunn.
Can't wait for Gunn's we made Flash for the fans when the movie inevitable tanks with the critics lmao
DC is cooked. Just scrap it all and just continue with the Pattinson Bat films
"Yes...Mondo Cool"- Vegeta.
Lobo is a character Momoa loves, and he might take a pay cut to play him. Safran is the money guy, it’s his job to make things profitable. If Aquaman 2 tanks, there just won’t be an Aquaman in the DCU for a while, he wasn’t a founding member of the DCAU League after all. But I think it’s already planned for Momoa to be done as Arthur after Aquaman 2.
For when my rants on the forums just aren’t enough: https://thevindicativevordan.tumblr.com/
Yes, I know what is in the scenes. I watched the movie already.
And that is your argument? That we should ignore the scenes that are obviously meant to set something up because they’re…funny?
Again, Gunn had plenty of time to cut these scenes from the movie. He didn’t. Again, his plans might be in flux. But this is leaving the door open for now.

Too bad Shazam 2 is going to end up with a disappointing BO. I liked the first one but I think COVID killed the momentum for the sequel. Looking at the Audience scores for BA, Quantumania, and Shazam 2 I do think superhero fatigue might be catching on the general audience. Not to mention the WB legacy seems to be hurting the movies.
Speaking of audience scores.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods CinemaScore Matches Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman 1984
https://comicbook.com/dc/news/shazam...er-woman-1984/Shazam! Fury of the Gods was released in theaters this weekend, and it's not expected to do too well at the box office, which could have something to do with the movie's poor critical reception. Currently, the sequel is up on Rotten Tomatoes with a 54% critics score, which is significantly lower than the first film's 90%. However, Shazam! Fury of the Gods does have a much higher audience score. The movie currently has an 85% audience score, which is higher than the first film's 82%. Of course, not nearly as many moviegoers have reviewed the sequel yet since it's only been out for a few days. Currently, Shazam! Fury of the Gods does have a CinemaScore that is more in line with its audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie has a B+, which matches some surprising DC films, including the poorly recieved Suicide Squad (2016) and Wonder Woman 1984.

I don't care either way about a full reboot, but so far nobody is returning except for Gunn's people and Momoa likely in a different role. In the initial press conference about it, they most certainly were vague about who was coming back. The only possibilities just so happen to be the ones with movies coming out this year? Come on.
Gunn also said Affleck was excited to work with them and Affleck just made it clear he hasn't had any interest in that for a long time. So, yes, Gunn days a lot of stuff, not all of it true.
Firstly, who says that those are the only people being carried over? We don’t know who is being carried over yet. They haven’t announced it yet. The only thing we know for sure are that Cavill and Affleck are not coming back.
Secondly, Gunn’s team just met with Gal Gadot and then right after announced a renewed interest in Wonder Woman. So she’s possibly coming over into the “new DCU” and she doesn’t have a movie coming out this year. So, it’s not only people with films this year.
And third, we don’t know what happened with Affleck. Maybe they were in talks and things soured. Maybe wires got crossed. Maybe Gunn was trying to pressure Affleck. Who knows? The only people who know are Gunn and Affleck and their teams. But it’s a logical fallacy to say “he was lying there so he has to be lying here.”

They don't care, these people spread lies and misinfo without remorse because they have an ideological hatred. Nothing DC or WB can do will ever appease them because 10 years ago they hired Zach Snyder. At what point are fans of DC going to say enough is enough and call out these toxic members of the community?
On a more positive note, I got to watch Shazam 2 and it was great. Extremely enjoyable film.
