But didn't Priest say hos Tchalla was only like 33 or something lol. But he probably felt like he was 45. I think too it's just the contrast. Priests Wakanda was petty AF and always wanted the King to be looking at their particular tribe or they would go to war, and Hudlin's was unified. But I get what your saying. Priests Panther had didn't trust nobody, but Hudlin's had some folks he could trust
You'd have to play up his ability to lead and him being "one with the people."
You would need to make him strictly street level like they did with Daredevil. Daredevil is very popular but he rarely joins Avengers teams or gets sucked into universe destruction type stuff.
Cage has to throw down with the Tombstones of the world. Drag him out of that niche and he is useless.

I don't agree he's useless outside of the street level stuff.
He's obviously no Hulk but his durability and heart have allowed him to throw down with Thing level opponents effectively enough. He has intangibles which make him greater than the sum of his parts. Despite not being the most powerful guy on the team, when he was an Avenger I think he legitimately did stand out. The "man of the people" aspect of him I think was actually an asset. Given the Mount Olympus status of the Avengers in the MU, I think the teams often needs that from someone. Usually that's Clint, but Cage actually played that role better than anyone.
If you all have not seen the latest Panther Quest episode you need to catch up. Truly groundbreaking mythos building going on in that cartoon and I love it.
You all can keep the BP Star Wars book, this is all I need till the second movie and video game drop

Cage is a community guy for sure. My issue is that people will make Cap the Defacto leaderewhen he is around and everyone else takes a back seat. T'Challa is an exception because his type of leadership is looking at the big picture Rather then what's in front of him. As you out it, winning the war whereas Cap wins the battle. Cage falls into the win the battle category. Outside of that I am also drawing a blank in what it would take to make him more unique.. but he needs something
Yup. He's kinda like the X-Men where he just works better in his own small pond. Same with Daredevil
Between elektra, black widow, bullseye, kingpin, etc... DD has a great lil supporting cast and nice dynamic as this blind lawyer. With Luke, I actually think "Ghost" from Power is the best archetype for him... which is essentially where Netflix season 2 ended. Unwilling kingpin that wants to go clean and has a front as the owner of the biggest club in NYC. Hell I'd make "Club Cage" or "Cage Tower" hotel the default big party spot for the rich n famous in 616.
Kingpin, Tombstone, the FBI, triads, Russians, and whatever mercenaries and goons of the week would be the villains. Whereas crime boss Black Cat as a frenemy love interest in addition to his versions of Power's Tasha and Netflix's MKnight. They gotta keep it sexy, and not that sitcom husband bs.
Edit- Conflict should be us seeing him use his crime boss powers for good and rolling up his sleeves, but still knowing he a kingpin, and how people on the inside start noticing this wishy washy stuff, while he tries to maintain his public image

That's why I'm for the heroic crime boss angle. He wouldn't do crime himself, but he'd make sure crime in Harlem is controlled. No muggings or mom & pop hold ups. But marijuana, cocaine, gambling, and escort services would. Cage would collect a percentage to keep other crime families out and punish those who break the rules.
If the Avengers or SM had to operate in Harlem they'd have to get his permission first.
Honestly I think a lot of the time the key to making a character stand out is writing a compelling character that people are drawn to. If writers or reader are drawn to Cage, regardless of his powerset, then the books will make sure he stands out.
Wolverine for example doesn't have a particularly impressive or useful powerset. On paper he shoudln't stand out in the X-Men, but he does because he was this bad @$$ character that everyone was drawn too. And writers made sure he stood out because of it.
Cage I think is in the same boat. Get him over with readers, and writers will made sure he stands out. Ewing in Mighty Avengers gave Cage plenty of cool moments, and that was despite him not being the field leader of the team and not being anywhere close to the most powerful. But they played up the notion of him being the unbreakable man both in body and spirit, and he was able to shine.
It just take either a writer to likes the character, or a character who is liked by the fans to the point where they basically have to get pushed. Power levels are usually a secondary thing.
Im not Keen on the cocaine angle for a Black man. Maybe like gambling, still iffy on escorting (that has potential to steer towards pimping) but gambling, or reigning in the gangs and other stuff in Harlem would be easier to do. Or like he uses his king pin status to push out gangbangers, drug slingers, Mafia trafficking etc uder the guise of "I am the kingpin and this is my area" but his henchman are unknowingly doing superhero work and his"cut" is the businesses and gangs operating in his area pay him for protection. So basically his body guard job her had on a larger scale and his is using crime folks to do superheroing
