It's 10 past Midnight and the long, dark road to vengeance has led Frank Castle to the small town of Winnow, a blip on the map on the outskirts of Chicago. Leads on a human trafficking ring have brought him to a trucker's pit stop full of misery and despair. He waits patiently as his target arrives in an unremarkable nondescript car. The driver gets out to survey the area as his partner in the passenger seat pulls out a young girl no more than seventeen from the rear of the car. A meeting has been set-up between the traffickers and a buyer of human commodities. The girl struggles to escape but the two men quickly overpower her as another car arrives. A third target steps out of the vehicle and opens a brief case full of money. The deal has been closed, the property paid for and another successful transaction has been made. The men would have enjoyed a good night if not for the bullets that splatter each of their brains like eggs on a sidewalk. One young life has been saved as Frank makes sure that she safely makes it to the police station. As he prepares to leave, his instincts have him whirl with guns raised as he hears a sound from a nearby alley. He approaches cautiously to hear a muffled sound and movement inside a dumpster. As he opens the lid, he's surprised by what he finds when he moves the trash and debris: a newborn baby only a few weeks old. Frank cradles the babe in his arms, looking to see if the mother or anyone else is in the area. Another soul saved this night and another target to hunt down.
