Indeed. Someone like Weiker would’ve been lambasted as a RINO and unceremoniously kicked out of today’s GOP for putting the people ahead of the one percenters.

He was lambasted back then for being a RINO (though they didn't use that acronym during the '80s), which is why he was forced to leave the party for political reasons.

I always read him when I lived on Long Island years ago. I always found him to be amusing, though he had this thing about male celebrities wearing unacknowledged toupees (even if they weren't). The example I recall the most was when he thought Joe Franklin's obvious combover was one. That he became a prominent author of historical nonfiction was a nice surprise.

A book by him (and "with Barry Sussman") that came out back in 1995 was titled Maverick: A Life in Politics.

A very talented actor. One movie I remember the most was the sinister character he played menacing Audrey Hepburn in Wait Until Dark. He was also good in comedies too like with Peter Falk in the In Laws.

Oh, I loved The In Laws! He and Falk were great in that. Mostly though, I remember him from lots of things, always a class act, always elevated the movie he was in and all the cast around him. He will be missed.

He was terrific in everything he did, but I think my favorite role of his is from Argo. He was also a talented musician who was on the pop charts before he hit it big in films

He definitely had a bigger claim on the word "maverick" than John McCain did, IMO.

Some well known bodybuilder named Jo passed and people are blaming the COVID vax. Several bodybuilders have passed in recent years and people are blaming the vax completely ignoring all the bodybuilders that died before COVID was around. I had no idea how toxic and ignorant the bodybuilding community is.

I saw a pic of the guy and he was clearly exposing his body to substances a lot riskier than a vaccine.

Clowns like that guy pumped themselves full of steroids like WWF wrestlers back in the 80's, yet, they steered clear of a vaccine like their lives depended on it. Someone, please make it make sense!
