I prefer Cassie to Donna because I grew up with Cassie. I saw her as the standard Hollywood "ugly duckling becomes a swan" trope seen in so many movies, from "Now Voyager" and "My Fair Lady" to "The Devil Wears Prada". An extreme makeover is something I always enjoy.
However, representation is important.
The plain Jane Walmart cashier look Cassie sports in the latest issues of Wonder Woman could very well be DC moving her towards their version of Ms. Marvel de-glamming to become Captain Marvel. What I see as regression, others see as confirmation and if Cassie is eventually revealed to be a "butch lesbian" like so many of you seem to want, I'm okay with that. You deserve to have your role models too.
It's clear my way of thinking is anachronistic and fans that like what I like are dying out, so maybe it's okay to move on and let other fans get the representation they desire.

It has some valid points but a lot of feels like the authors headcanons and using Cassie as a self insert. Like the so called "evidence" used to say her interest in Kon is comphet is like very weak like trying to use pattern of word choices like mentioning Cissie first then Kon
She wasn't an ugly duckling. She wasn't unhappy with who she was. She was successful and appreciated.
And what the tumblr post points out is that the moments in which she became less happy with where she was in life came when she started being designed as more and more typically feminine

YES Capes. YES Masks. YES Secret Identities.
Yeah and the Silent Armor look just skips to the Swan part. 'cause wanting to look fab was a major character trait that she had even when she was not even Wonder Girl yet.
Yeah.... no. She just hadn't done much that early on... or been in major comics wide events.... Like you can say having her boyfriend die was the worst thing that had happened to her... but... at the same time... Having Kon as her boyfriend was the high point. Kon's death as a low point was BECAUSE of how much she loved him.
what you wrote isn't a response to what I wrote

I'm not gonna pretend that I remember that makeover issue, but from the panels posted, it seems like the lesson there is be yourself, don't try to fit in.
Cassie's transformation, for lack of a better word at the moment, is really a natural progression for a lot of girls growing up. They see who they think is pretty and what they consider beautiful and try to emulate that. One of the best real world examples is Dolly Parton. She tells the story of when she was little, there was a woman in her town whom she thought was the perfect example of beauty. She was always dressed just so and had her make up on and her hair done (up real big because that was the fifties) and when Dolly got into the business she began to emulate what she remembered as beautiful. The woman in her town just so happened to be the town prostitute, but Dolly still thought she was amazing. As Dolly has aged and grown, her look has maintained some of that but she's also adjusted and refined her look and style.
Cassie's story is similar to that...she started out dressing in how she thought she looked amazing. As Cassie's character has grown, she's done the same. The main problem is there's a very vocal contingent who do not want characters to grow or change, it's not inherently bad or wrong, we like our characters the way we perceive them and how we met them, but for some characters growth is hard on them Imagine how people would have flipped out had we had the internet when Dick Grayson changed from Robin to Nightwing! Cassie needs her Nightwing moment or her Troia moment. Unfortunately she's stuck in the same quagmire that Tim Drake and Conner are.....

That's not how I would describe it at all. She dressed in a way that represented what mattered to her.
I don't want Cassie to look the way she did in the 90s, but I disagree with how she developed in the 2000s, because I don't think it represented the best parts of her, and because the message it sends is the opposite of what she meant originally
