Ricky Starks isn't hurt. AEW isn't using him at the moment. He doesn't know why

That loss being in the main event of Raw doesn't really mean anything when he was main-eventing NXT shows and PLEs as it's top champion barely a month ago.
People can get over with a loss. This doesn't hurt Ilja at all.

Here's what I don't understand. In order for someone to "get over," they have to win matches at some point and it can't just be wins over jobbers. They have to beat someone important. So you can't have everyone win all the time. At some point, someone you care about has to lose. That's how competition works

But that doesn't have to be in your second match on a new brand. If you spend a month or two looking impressive picking up wins against some lower/midcard guys, you look better in a loss against a main-event guy than you do in your second match. Plus, Ilja just dropped the NXT title about a month ago. He needs to be built back up a little first.

i got mixed feeling on the uso/dragunov thing. for the most part i don't think losing to the guy most likely to win the whole tourney really hurts him at the same time it was only his 2nd match on tv and that seems pretty early to start doing jobs.

i hope they have some plans for dragunov, i'm a big fan since watching that wxw 16carat tournament he won in 2017.
Jey has a ceiling and that is just about what it is now. His future is to hook back up with Jimmy and take out the new Bloodline and then reviving their tag team dominance.

All the talk about Ilja all the while Bron is running around the back asking why he isn't in the KotR.

Ilja beat Ricochet. Not the best but top/middle tier then lost to Jey in a Main event. He is fine...

Ilja also beat Nakamura in the raw after mania. He already has solid wins under his belt

Nakamura's only won one televised singles match in six months. Beating him isn't that big of an accomplishment anymore. They may have given him a great character overhaul, but he's still taking a ton of losses.

Hasn’t it came out he’s likely WWE bound once his contract expires? He was backstage with Cody once and helping Jade train down at PC center in a pic.

I think with a number of stars you have to think , is this guy a future main event caliber talent? The push we did with him , does it make sense to make him lose clean.

In the Sting case and his 9 month push , Flair could have easily beat Sting in the final minute. But they wanted to see if they had something in him and they choose wisely. The draw helped a guy beginning out and it worked.

So there are guys who aren’t planned as big stars ahead. Ilja could get a midcard push after this to build him on RAW because he just came from NXT.

LA Knight became a rare case where his losses didn’t affect him as his charisma and mic skills got him over. Mick Foley and Chris Jericho in 2000s could do this. Jericho once lost like 6-8 PPVs in a row and still was over due to that.

It’s a rare deal some can do that.

They should make use of the guy while he's still under contract. He could be convinced to stay if they did anything with him

I'm thinking Ilja may join Imperium. He got a nod of respect from Gunther, as Gunther went down to confront Jey Uso.

The YouTube WWE viewers disliked the USO match.

Yes, it will be Roman, Jimmy and Jey vs. Solo and his thugs in a Paul Heyman on a pole match. Winning team gets the wiseman.

Keeping It 100 said Ricky's contract ends in June and he first asked for a release in January 2023, again when Jade left, and most recently prior to the last PPV.

    He's gone.

    No point in pushing him.

    He wants to leave.
