I kind of figured that the X-men were the perfect subjects for the completely over-the-top tales of magic and superhuman feats common to early Irish Celtic epics like the Táin Bó Cúailnge (The Cattle Raid of Cooley), with its teenage warrior hero Cú Chulainn (who, if he were written into the comics today, would likely be cast as a mutant and probably an X-man).
