I remember that mini. I was so disappointed with that after seeing the covers from the advance solicitations. This is the thing that comics do these days that really annoys me. It's like a bait and switch when the cover is really done well and then the interior art is a completely different style, almost like a parody comic. With Axel Alonso gone, I hope we see less of that in the months to come.

LMAO! Me and my cousin still talk about that issue.

Jae Lee's Namor deserves to be mentioned, and I hated the way Land drew Ben Grimm with the Kermit the frog mouth.

Considering in the same story you had art by Ron Lim, not sure WTF this was.

Tom Grindberg was a guy that started out flat out copying Neal Adams (though, I'd have to say, he was never quite successful). Here, he was going through an experimental phase, trying to find his own style. He was going for something Mignola inspired, heavily influenced by the over the topness of the 90's. I'd have to say that, though far from a favorite, there were other artists at the time gthat bugged me more.

    Peace

I'm pretty sure she was deliberately a joke character, so that probably has something to do with that. Also, for some reason, I feel like it was Steve Ditko that drew her.

I change my answer to the Millar and Hitch run of the Fantastic Four. I found all of the team looked rough during it.

I'm big on writing over art in a book, I usually will put up with mediocre to bad art for good writing. Stroman's art on X-factor was the first and only time I dropped a book solely because of the art.

Yes. Ditko was still doing a few projects here and there. The way I read it the Squirrel Girl story was just a back up story and was used as filler in 1992 Marvel Winter Special and then forgotten. Then when the internet came along, someone dedicated a page to her and posted some scans. That's the only way I found out she existed.

As for the Jae Lee and Herb Trimpe examples, I blame the Rob Liefeld influence back in the 1990s. I also blame him for all the pouches too. They looked ridiculous on the Fantastic Four's costumes. Fantastic Four Unlimited I found hard to read because of the bad proportions on the figures.
