The art is pretty but haven't yet been tested on the subject of magic. When we get large magic spells being used, magical creatures or realms then we might talk how it measures up to the criteria of illustrating magic in a comic. I think it has more with vibes then technical mastery. As mentioned before the coloring is a big subject.
The story is set as we have a framework for a plot and most characters motivation. Yet we have nothing tangible on the whole premise of mutants and magic. In general nothing about mutants scream that magic would be wielded differently and affect them differently. We have had mutants who use magic before. Or are affiliated with magic users(Amanad Seyfton for instance). Even Wanda, the most notable example, are neither a mutant or has used her powers in conjegature with magic for most of her run. Busiek tried to bind her reality warping powers to chaos magic. To sperate what chaos magic and reality bending is in this case might be hard. To define what say magic and cosmic powers differ might be hard. If it all is about the source instead of how it affects objects, natural laws and so on then it becomes the classical advanced science vs magic.
Tini can go many ways with this theme as magic in itself isn't defined. We know nothing so farand it hasn't been teased eihter. In that aspect it's not hard to feel that the other books have their fans more excited in the direction&theme of their books.
Sweeet! Curious omissions in the art though. Perhaps that's where dialogue is being placed
Nice! Let's go!
"Danielle... I intend to do something rash and violent." - Betsy Braddock
Krakoa, Arakko, and Otherworld forever!
I forgot what they call those monsters. Sirens?
"Cable was right!"
That art is looking so sick. I have a feeling ExcAlibur is going to absolutely kill it tomorrow.
KittyKate feels like she's written way too young. I'm all for forgetting some of the wretched stories of the last few decades, but she's coming across as a sassy teen again.
