I'm sure another reason why John Stewart is kneeling down is because the guys over at the DC offices refuses to give him as a successful black minority character a solo title and refuses to push the character to the maximum all of these years

THE SIGNAL (Duke Thomas) is DC's secret shonen protagonist so I made him a fandom wiki

Artgerm is an amazing artist. It's a pleasure of having him draw a John Stewart variant.
As cool as that variant is, I gotta say, I don't like the tattoo ring as an idea. I like the rings proper too much, I guess. Small nitpick. Looks fine otherwise, which is unusual because I've never thought Artgerm was great at drawing men's faces, or at least non-pretty boys (like Nightwing). He does a pretty good job here. Definitely brought his A-game. Glad it was on a John Stewart piece.

Is John still leading the JL? Doesn't look like it from the last 2 issues.
No shade, just asking.
No. I think he just took charge for that operation. Generally, DC makes Batman the unofficial leader. Sometimes it's Superman. I figure if JLD ends, they'd make Diana the chair.
The last time it wasn't a member of the trinity when they were on the team, it was Dinah and McDuffie had her express her frustrations that while she was named lead, the trinity were still calling the shots.
I strongly doubt John will get to lead, not that he'd be a bad fit.
the last official Leader was J'onn, as he was named chairman at the beginning of JL. I don't know if that was voided when he got absorbed by s̶u̶p̶e̶r̶ ̶b̶u̶u̶ I mean Apex Lex, but I think he's technically still chairman with the Trinity or John generally running point in the field.

Screen Rant seems to provide an interesting speculation on what's to come in the upcoming Death Metal issue in September. After reading it, I'm even more curious to see how this would play out with John Stewart. You guys can read the article here
