I loved Synchs intro. He was my first favorite Gen Xer, and it was instant. This is pretty intense.
Also, CC + Alan Davis.
I'm sort of laughing inside at the recent Excalibur pages Rita posted because I remember how that had a certain uh, feeling for some fans. Y'know... fighting leads too, um...
Rachels tragic timeline. No professor! ;-;
Since we're doing Rachel's most tragic moments, here's my favourite one:

The Once and Future Mutant giving everything up as he is the hope of his people.
As an artist, let me tell you that this is a tour de force of visual storytelling, utterly superb in its execution and the simplicity of the line. It’s also a good example of my dear CC knowing when to shut the feck up.
Nothing is wasted, the grid lines of the shogi, the background characters, the NVC between the players.
I have no time for artists who can only draw superheroes, in power poses. A real artist can draw the characters in civvies, in relaxed, normal situations, they can draw backgrounds and cars and animals and the world the characters live in.
You should be able to tell who characters are without costumes/colours to prompt you. Body shape, face shape, hair, posture should make each recognisable.
That final panel. Scott, who understands loss, half turning. Peter’s hand on Kitty’s shoulder. Kurt’s face, that’s his best friend who he wants to help, Ororo, you can almost feel her hand on Kurt’s arm.
And every page Paul Smith turned in had little details like that. It was a fabulous experience to read.
This is not only powerful but sublty badass on Kitty's part. CC/Jr. didn't hold back and yet no extreme gore or cursing.
