I think besides being Gay, Graham has also been compromised by Putin.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
With Graham and Cruz, it’s arguable the difference in perception was that they were seen as having some kind of spine, whether they were perceived as good or evil.
The creepiest thing about Trumpism from an amoral POV is how objectively cowardly, sycophantic, and weak willed it’s political disciples are; they submit themselves to Trump’s will so much that they even lose the respect you’d have for them as opponents.
Guys like Romney, Cheney, Flake, Corker, McCain and the Lincoln Project aren’t united so much by moral standards as simply not being as willing to kiss ass to someone who’s a raging megalomaniac, parasite, *and* a dumbass. Romney is arguably in a category unique compared to the others because Mormon voters have been chilly enough about Trumpism and are looked down on by other evangelical voters enough that Romney has some political will of his constituents to fuel his courage.
Like action, adventure, rogues, and outlaws? Like anti-heroes, femme fatales, mysteries and thrillers?
I wrote a book with them. Outlaw’s Shadow: A Sherwood Noir. Robin Hood’s evil counterpart, Guy of Gisbourne, is the main character. Feel free to give it a look: https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asi...E2PKBNJFH76GQP
I see McConnell went to his usual low, voting not to impeach then giving a speech admitting Trump was guilty.
Power with Girl is better.
Or...
It's really just the simplest version of things.
The man is the sort of politician who has always done what it would take to save his own political neck.
That he is simply looking out for number one probably has nothing to do with whatever arch villain folks want to imagine is orchestrating the whole thing.
Most of the time?
A politician looking out for their own interest is just that. Nothing that is any more complicated than that.
Also came with a heel turn where he went from saying that Trump was the worst thing for the party to backing Trump up at every turn.
Never mind that whole "You Can Use My Words Against Me..." bit.
Just seems like even the folks who had never really paid the guy a whole lot of mind could catch it when it was that obvious.
Beohner claimed that he'd "never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch than Cruz," and referred to him as "Lucifer in the flesh." So yeah, I imagine that Little Teddy wins the most despised race by a significant stretch. What's truly amazing is how he continues to endure despite continually reversing position and backstabbing with abandon. I can see how he gets reelected by pandering to the evangelical bigot vote, but I can't see how he has even a dram of influence as everyone has got to know that any deal with him will get them shafted the instant something Cruz likes better comes along. I can't forget how he tried monkey-wrenching the nomination at the 2016 GQP convention; it flatly astonishes me that Trump let him have a sycophant seat at his table.
As for the Dems reversing on calling witnesses. I get that it was futile, but I hope they at least got something out of it. Say, agreements with a bunch of non-Q Rs to abstain from attempts to gum up Biden's legislative works through 2022. We ought to know the story on that pretty soon.
