I like Shuri as a concept and want her to be successful in her role and then Branch out on her own into her own character. Harlry quin didnt have to become Joker to get a following. Marvel can't even decide what she is. Redjacks in panther quest is the best adaptation I've seen. Only one whose sole purpose didnt seem to be taking from and becoming her half brother.
Conceptually speaking Shuri is a great concept and ambassador for the BP brand but you have a subset of creators and fans that are hellbent on her replacing her brother rather than building her own niche within the BP ecosystem. They want his rogues, his storylines, his supporting characters, and his place as the center of the mythos. These “fans” existed before Boseman’s passing and Marvel’s decision not to recast opens the way to her (or whoever takes the mantle for that matter) to displace T’Challa, as for many people as long as the lead is black nothing about the BP franchise changes.

The only hope is that the comic division understands who is the main draw of the BP IP and continue to position T’Challa as a strong lead, so in the next decade (or 2) we can get a comic accurate portrayal with great stories of his own.

That’s not even getting into the possibility of Letitia Wright coming back to Twitter and not learning a got dang thing.

Random rag that has gotten random **** right in the past

    Seems unlikey
Brand new character? Light skinned brotha?...mixed race at that. The only "good" thing going for him is that his mother is from Zimbabwe....but still, this rumour, if remotely true is a testament that there's a normalisation of rendering T'Challa redundant. It doesn't help with obtuse comments from Feige. They really have taken everything that matters about Black Panther from us. Let the James Bond folks have this guy. F*** !

Frankly, with COVID putting a stake in the heart of the cinemas, I'll be stunned if ANY movie, MCU or otherwise, makes even close to BP numbers.

I'm just amused by the idea that people are looking to the comics to save the character. If it were up to the publishing arm, BP probably wouldn't have been made... it was only after Feige gained independence from Perlmutter & co. that he was able to get the move greenlit.

I want to ask y'all a question, seriously.

What are people's thoughts on the martial arts and fight choreography in the BP film? Were you satisfied? Was it seriously lacking? Needed improvement? Good but could have been better? Awesome?

The Snyder Cult will gladly take that challenge....

If Marvel is like DC-the comic side would have to approve of that character being used. There is a reason we didn't see Black Lightning until Batman Brave & Bold. The JLU episode with Booster Gold was suppose to be Firestorm-however with Ronnie being slated to die in Identity Crisis-Booster Gold got the lead.
The Aquaman WB pilot got him yanked from Justice League cartoons.

So if Marvel had that power-Black Panther was the one that they wanted for films since that was a battle ongoing before Blade came out.

The publishing side had no one else black (aside from Cage) to offer Disney who had as much already previous material that could pack trades.

I thought it was good. Maybe some improvements could be made but I wasn't disappointed.

It was serviceable but in my opinion, it was the only issue I had with the film apart from the CGI (which I wasn't too fused about) and expected more from a character who is one of the best fighters in the Marvel universe. I was hoping this would be improved significantly in the sequel but since T'Challa won't be coming anytime soon, I'm not really expecting anything.

O don't think that the comics are going to save T'Challa, What I was actually getting at was for the side characters and Wakanda, there is nothing from the comics to go off from, story wise or really development wise. Ira actually so far been a detriment because Shuri took some of T'Challas characteristics because she was so inconsistent in the comics.but it's the lack of any sort of development from the comics that caused MCU to essentially create brand new characters. Which caused issues for the comics when Coates and Nnendi clashed in their interpretation of Shuri for instance. I don't want T'Challas stories from the comics to be adapted to the MCU without him as that's complete bullshit and frankly the MCU hasn't developed any of the supporting cast to actually take over as they are the same since the first movie. Hence again is why I say they are trying to treat it like an ensemble but only T'Challa Is different so it doesn't work that way

I thought the fight choreography was perfect. I was disappointed by T'Challa & Killmongers final fight but I lighten up on it every re-watch.

The martial arts weren't a problem. The only person that was on the same skill level as T'Challa was Killmonger. Anyone else was a waste of T'Challa's time and he treated them as such.

    I think it was average.
What i liked about it was that it atleast showcased Tchalla versatility in styles when he was utilizing mma and capoeira.

But still the sequences could hace been better. MBJ looked robotic in some of his sword play and it felt more like a dance.
I was hoping for something that blew Cap vs winter soldier out of the water.

I liked the mbaku fight much better than the killmonger one.
As someone who has seen hundred of asian martial arts film im probably judging too harshly
