I wouldnít say heís a big name. People barely knew he did comic work before Jace Batman and I donít think heís even half as big as Coates was when he took on BP. Plus his current books arenít exactly lighting up the charts either. Iíd say heís mid-tier, largely propped up by his social relevance through 12 Years a Slave. Very few people consider him an elite comic writer and heís not seen as a trailblazer in the way relative newcomers like Donny Cates are.

Do we think that it's inevitable that Wakanda and Krakoa will ultimately go to war? And if there is a war, does T'Challa just assume command of all of Wakanda's militry forces including IGEW?
Maybe someday but not anytime soon. If and when it happens I won't be looking forward toward it.

Hope the drop off isnít too steep come issue 2.
Keep in mind that Ridley's run didn't receive the same marketing push that Coates got nor the MCU hype. Had Ridley's run or anyone else's have came out 2016-2019 the numbers would've been bigger. T'Challa was appearing a lot more outside of comics on roles that were more than just cameos or guest appearances. The only hype/interest that Ridley had to benefit from was the War For Wakanda dlc.

Ridleyís run isnít coming off one of the most celebrated comic runs in Marvel history with Hickmanís secret wars. It doesnít have the MCU hype of CW. And Ridley is a B-list writer (both in and out of comics) with much less prestige and cultural influence than Coates. In addition to his most recent comic work being lukewarmly received among fans. Critics love him but neither the sales nor fan discourse seem to suggest heís considered a Donny Cates or Al Ewing-level talent. Coates also had the benefit of BP not having a solo book in years, so there was a strong interest to see the character shine by himself after being part of New Avengers.

So Ridley didnít get nearly as much marketing outside Alex Ross and Cabal, who very likely leave after the first few issues lol. He also has the disadvantage of the previous run selling extremely poorly roughly a third of the way through, so he has to win back fans who dropped BP and havenít been reading since circa 2018. And heís coming right after Coates so thereís a bunch of weariness about whatís next for the character, especially among the hardcore fans the book clearly needs to be viable. Itís not like the BP solo took an extended break to build back hype (which they seem to be doing with Cap). Doesnít help that the #1 kept getting delayed. For a character thatís traditionally B/C-list in comic circles to sell that well with all these factors against it is admirable. But really it comes down to momentum, much of which is tied directly to quality and widespread fan interest.

Weíre more likely to see Wakanda fight the Badoon or the United States than Krakoa or Attilan, thatís how it should be.

Wakanda doesnít need no damn mutants to bolster its forces lol, all that does is make TíChalla less special and undermine the human themes that make Wakanda so great. Vibraxas and Muti are more than enough, maybe create a ďheavyĒ infantry division of cybernetically enhanced beserkers for some extra manpower. Anything more than that is unnecessary, TíChallaís strategic mind and battle tactics is more than enough to lead Wakanda to victory no matter the circumstances.
That's the thing, we don't even need heavy cybernetic forces. We got:
Infantry (WK army, DM, HZ and T'Challas personal Force with the sheathes)
    Armored division
(Prowler's, Doomsday's guardians, panthertron nfrom AoW, hand of bast)
    Air guard
(Royal talon, dragon fryer, Wakandan quinjet stelfreeze design, N'Yami motherships, and C. Boseman class helicarrier)

That's alot of fight power that can be utilized to handle threats to Wakanda.

Like you said, we are more likely to see them face the US over krakoa.butt we have been Wakandan forces take out heroes and villains so it's not impossible or out of the realm of possibility either.

WK is great because the tiny nation the size of New Jersey, spanks the isht out of forces all types of hyper advanced and/or Super powered armies because they are a warrior nation full of humanities best, lead by an elite among elites

Not to be that gworl BUT I did mention many moons ago bp poor sales were not because of Coates and it was more a reflection of the market, as well as what readers put their money into. I want this series to do well but unless you are sm, batman, etc., type character sustaining strong comic sales in the current market us virtually impossible.
ALL HAIL THE HADARI YAO, THE OMEGA'S OMEGA, THE REGENT OF SOL!!!! NOW AGAIN THE ONE TRUE AND ONLY GODDESS OF THE X-MEN AS CLAREMONT INTENDED!!!!!

What are you even talking about? Coates poor sales were because he wrote a bad series. Period end of story. BP can sustain itself with a good plot, character development and art. Despite what articles say, Coates run was EXTREMELY subpar, from Strictly a story telling standpoint, even worse when you know it was a BP book.

I mean, Akili straight up walked up to a sorcerer with no fear and hit him with a gun. Hit. Him. With. A. Gun.

So, dudes got answers for people with powers.

He'd cripwalk up to Pyro and tickle him just to show him who is boss around here.

Like I said, it's a good sign that it's the story that people are interested in.

That feat alot plus his standing long jobe made him easily Coates best OC created of all.

Again, Shuri channelling RJs alchemy power, Okoye, Wakandas best warrior second to T'Challa, and Akili sporting future soldier advanced technology, vibraxas, zavawari, and the MA if you need more bodies, led by T'Challa and backed by the serious machines of death WK has to offer? That's more Than enough characters to take on krakoa and have individual fights. This is a nation that repelled two and defeated two different armies and destroyed one of them outright and then taking on the others full force and only lost because the generals who were captured were released by maximus after this massive army failed twice to take WK.
