Idris would have been a good Priest T'Challa.

A young Sidney Poitier would have been great to handle the depth/nuance of Coates T'Challa.

If Perlmutter wasn’t a problem back then I could’ve easily seen Idris playing T’Challa if Black Panther was made in phase 1. Too bad he settled for Heimdall.

Cant say that. Would it have been as big in 2018? Probably not. However, it would have kept the ball running and T'Challa would have been as big as Tony and Steve. Whats the last Marvel film that "failed" pre-Covid?

Dont get me wrong I love what we got. Just saying T'Challa would have been official for almost 10 years now if they took the property serously.

It's a pre-pandemic MCU movie. They could have cast a pineapple as T'Challa and it would have still made bank.

I think he’s a bit too old for T’Challa now. Now Aldis Hodge or Yahya Abdul Mateen on the other hand…

Knowing his luck, covid would have come earlier once it heard Idris was cast lol

When it comes to superheroes, age ain't nothing but a number.

I mean, was Robert Downey, Jr too old to play Iron Man?

Yeah the thing is Iron Man really isn’t a physically demanding role. T’Challa is and since Idris is pushing 50 now if he were to get cast as a variant of T’Challa, he’d probably be in his 60’s by the time he’s done since Marvel likes to keep their actors around for the long haul. Hence why I’d prefer they get someone in their 30’s like Aldis or Yahya so they can get some mileage out of them.

This, plus do we really want to see old man T'Challa? We barely scratched young T'Challa, I don't want to skip the on between. Get a young rising star like the ones mentioned here and set T'Challas franchise back on track, preferably with a Recast but a variant is better than the franchise trying to move on without him

T'Challa has a stunt double and CGI on his side. I think Idris would do fine.
