Autumn Durald (‘Loki’) is set to serve as cinematographer on ‘BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER’. (EXCLUSIVE) http://bit.ly/WakandaDP
So Coogler's lost his longtime cinematographer, oscar winning costume designer (Ruth Carter) and his lead actor/character...It has been previously reported that the production team behind Black Panther: Wakanda Forever could be significantly different from the previous entry with the rumored addition of Queen of Katwe and Guava Island costume designer Mobolaji Dawodu, rather than Ruth E. Carter who won a long- overdue Academy Award for Best Costume Design on the first film. That being said, Hannah Beachler, who won an Academy Award for Best Production Design on the first Black Panther, is said to be returning for the sequel.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever just begun production this week, with Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, and Martin Freeman all set to reprise their respective roles. Tenoch Huerta has been cast in the sequel, his recent credits include Narcos: Mexico and The Forever Purge, which releases later this week. It was also reported earlier this month by The Illuminerdi that Huerta will be taking on the pivotal role of Namor the Submariner in the sequel, the rest of the new cast additions are currently unknown.
Only known black male in a BP movie...WInston Duke/M'Baku.
Marvel really couldnt push the movie back? Really gonna let him be without people that made the 1st film work?
Its almost like they'r ok if the movie is Black Widow/Ant Man status..

I know we’re being cautious because of the former guy, but I really think we’re in for a treat with Ridleys run.
T'Challa
A.K.A. The Black Panther
King of Wakanda
King of the Dead and The Champion of Bast
Two-Time Time Magazine "Person Of The Year"
Six-Time People Magazine "Sexiest Man Alive"
What Priest and Hudlin did for the BP mythos can't be understated. Liss had a nice run and is a good writer, but there are levels to this and the architects for BP and Wakanda are clearly McGregor, Priest and Hudlin. They established the definitive versions that have defined the character for the last 20 years across multimedia.
Oh and an obvious shout out to Stan and Jack for creating the character and the premise.
The J-man
Yea I think that’s what the character needs now. We had 5 years of a neophyte writer trying to reinvent everything and turn the book into World of Wakanda. Ridley going back to T’Challa’s roots while building on the classic elements of the character should be a good palate cleanser that stabilizes sales and actually puts some development into T’Challa himself that isn’t entirely framed in negativity and Pyrrhic victories.
Exploring themes of black joy and catharsis makes me think he’s not gonna go the the ultra heavy, deconstructive “T’Challa is too flawed and grounded to be fun” route that Coates took.
Still need a more extensive interview though to see what Ridley’s thoughts are on the character, at bare minimum we know he likes the guy lol. I want to know more about why he cares about T’Challa and what aspects of the character he wants to highlight. And how much of Coates he plans on bringing into his run along with what he’s most excited to introduce.
I think that's a big part of the problem. People who don't read or understand BP think that he's portrayed as perfect and flawless. People like Coates. So when he took over writing BP he decided that he would make T'Challa a flawed character. He was a reluctant king, filled with doubt who was so far removed rom Wakandans that he didn't know what was going on in his own country.
But long time BP fans knew that T'Challa has flaws, just not the kind that Coates was trying to push. T'Challa is confident to the point of a silent cockiness who believes that the ends justifies the means. He uses people. He's fanatical when it comes to protecting Wakanda. That's where good writers exploit his faults instead of creating issues that don't apply to BP.

Next on my reading list is Black Panther: Long Live the King
Did anyone read this? Was the formatting confusing to you? The first story was by Nnedi Okorafor about some earthquakes, weird beasts, and depleting vibranium in Wakanda that seemed related. That was for parts 1, 2, and 5.
However, before it finished, it felt like we had a fill-in story by Aaron Covington. The weird thing is the first story involved travel to "Mute Cities" that rejected Wakandan technology. The next story involved the White Gorilla Cult as terrorists. Since they traditionally rejected Wakandan technology, I thought they were supposed to be related at first, but they weren't. I really enjoyed the return of Baron Macabre and M'Baku for this story.
The last story was also by Nnedi Okorafor and involved an alternate future with a Nigerian Black Panther who uses the Venom symbiote. I actually thought this was Okorafor's strongest story (the first one had some dialogue that felt ill-fitted for Wakanda) and I appreciated the real life verisimilitude of Nigeria. It was fun to see the hypothetical of how Nigerian mutants would be treated as well. Over all, it felt like a richer experience based on the setting, but it obviously wasn't a story with strong consequences. The use of the symbiote just prior to the start of the Intergalactic Wakandan Empire story is almost certainly a coincidence, but an interesting one.
