T'Challa: The Black Panther Appreciation 2021

No one is above criticism. Stelfreeze set the stage for covers, and marvel has continued to give BP straight fire covers that started consistently with stelfreeze. His artwork was Beautiful too. But when it came to action or characters faces, particularly the royal family?[



He gets plenty of credit where it's due. He is the one who came up with the designs for Wakanda and the force push

Oh Stelfreeze’s action scenes were garbage tier lol. A lot of that comes down to Coates not having an eye for action (or fun at all) but Stelfreeze is legit terrible at conveying scale or any sense of energy in his fights. He had the Golden City nearly fall to like a dozen orcs lol. Acuna was a massive step up in that department.

That was probably the worst writer/artist combo you could get.

A writer who could describe an action scene paired with an artist who couldn't really convey the action scenes needed for the book.

But yeah, Stelfreeze had some great covers.

I've read 2 reviews and there was nothing particularly bad in them. They even say that Ridley's t'challa is more like Priest's and that Coates fans may find it jarring

The dialogue of T'Challa speaking about democracy and dictatorship did interest me.

Hard to make a judgment based off that review. Other than some dialogue issues seen in the preview I didn't hear anything that would turn me off too much. Sounds like he's gotten away from the Coats sulking version which is fantastic but have him dealing with a bunch of the political repercussions of the last writer.

I thought that was Sprouse who did the final battle, Which he too was garbage tier at scale, and his action was only slightly better, with isht faces too. T'Challa looked gaunt and sickly

Am I missing something? Of the 4 reviews I have seen they all seem positive, with one complaining that having a Action scene out the gate can disengage reader's (didn't really make sense but whatever) But the lack of thought bubbles and a more headstrong T'Challa is what we wanted

So far so good. I especially want to see the action sequences he's talking about outside of what we've seen already. It's got to be a step up from the last run.
