This will just make it EASIER to NOT do black lead films starring folks NOT named Miles Morales or Al Simmons or Sam Wilson or Virgil Hawkins and whatever mess Coates Superman and Jordan's versions will be.

If this movie ever comes out I can promise you it’ll probably split the fandom down the middle.

What Fake Woke, Feminist and Shuri fans throwing fits?

The same ones that were QUICK to say boycott because of RUMORS of Jordan having a white girlfriend.

The same ones that were ready to insult anyone about not supporting Shuri as BP?

Nobody cares about them.

If they were REAL Shuri fans they would notice Marvel has promoted her as HERSELF than Black Panther in everything else. So if she was BP in the movie-they would have had to create a TON of stuff with her as Panther because by the time the movie came out at least 12 books would have showcased her as herself.

I think the issue is NWH, DS2:MoM, Ant Man 3(Kang) were setting the bar so high around BP2 that either Feige probably panicked in thinking it'd get lost in the shuffle. Probably feared it being too smale around all the multiverse and cosmic stuff.

It would have still have been fine though cause you see T'Challa vs Namor. Now they are making a small scale character (MCU Shuri) take on the load of making this an epic match.

I mean, on comparison to what was going on, BP was small scale yet it completely smashed all expectations and. Blew away the competition and made alot of firsts for Marvel, so having a small (yet bigger than the first) scale Movie can and would still work. That's what made the first so good. It was a more intimate film z that broke away from the marvel formula to be more. Sacrificing that for large scale cgi battles is not the way to go. Not that it even matters with no T'Challa

Since this is official promo artwork I'm guessing M'Baku will have an increased role? Who knows maybe the rumor will turn out true and M'Baku will take up the mantle. I won't be surprised if they imitate real life and reveal T'Challa has had cancer and told no one.

I mean, kinda seems like they made a massive mistake, instead of immediately going to Coogler and saying "Hey what are we doing for the sequel" they should of said hey we are putting the filming on hold, take some time and we will be in contact in a few months.

Now they have to double down and pretend this was always the plan and then retrofit words and tasked with a massive taste that likely won't work

Yea it depends on if they want to make Shuri more of a warrior or not. However, if they do recast T'Challa (or stick to her original plan) nothing wrong with her being the brainy kid sister in her own lane.

As said by others the OG film went out of its way to make it clear she's not a potential T'Challa replacement.

She does, but the issue is that some still are about no recast for T'Challa as well. Got no problem with people wanting both recast. Its just that 30% (from social media) that are making it only about that.

True, but Shuri is now the #1 trend (for now). And its mostly people saying recast T'Challa now or honor Chad better. So thats the good thats come from this.

I'm all for recasting T'Challa and Shuri (if Letitia truly is radioactive now) but I would also rather people act on verified information rather than clickbait headlines that are purposefully meant to incite outrage.
