Really they don't even have to kill him off. They could just say that he went off to investigate a phenomenon(multiverse collapsing) and went missing.

He returns but looks and acts differently than when he left.

That's the thing, they don't have to awknowledge that he is different. They didn't do that with Rhodes, just continue on. Have them be happy he is back. The assumed dead part (as well as this investigation) is because we already know the crew wants to tribute Chad and that's how they will likely do it, with some type of memorial. Which I think would be in bad taste, but that's just me. Have his name inscribed in the throne room on a fashion similar to Cooglers message to his Mom. Simple, elegant and respectful while keeping the movie going

We've seen set photos of rest in peace signs and have Nate Moore saying the film will be cathartic for fans. They are killing him and seem to be making it a plot point smh.

If anything the only T'Challa popping up would be a variant.

If it's an in-universe change like with Rhodey yeah, they don't have to acknowledge. But if they don't plan on re-casting the main universe T'Challa, and bring in a multiverse version, then they might feel the need to differentiate the 2 T'Challas and acknowledge that this version is somehow different.

Yeah, if they're going to kill him then I don't see them bringing in a variant T'Challa that isn't different.

To be honest I don't see it being cathartic for fans. Maybe to the cast and crew, but to fans, especially young kids. It's going to more likely be a blow to them. Even their heroes who look like them, who are supposed to be larger than life, and an inspiration, will be killed off too. As I said, there is a way to honor Chad and give him the send off he deserves without making people go through it again years after the fact. It was already bad enough to see it in the what if. Now they want to do it again in the sequel... if they go that route

Which is what they should do. Even a variant cones with its own set of issues that would need to be addressed, to the point where it will likely regress the character to some extent and have to go over old story beats again. Making Chad's death a plot point in the movie is a mistake and again is this short sighted stuff with long terms implications. If this is what happens of course

Better have an aged Tchalla Jr by the end of the film I'll be cool with that ..it's better than not having a Tchalla at all..

Yes, yes, the calls for the re-cast are getting louder and louder and more and more mainstream!

Killing off T'Challa because the actor playing him is dead isn't the way to go.

At least, in the last Ghostbusters movie, we still got to see a "version" of a late actor. Heck, even "Sex and the City" didn't write Willie Garson's death into the series (as the Producers said, it's not "charming").

I'm not sure why the MCU producers are so determined to off T'Challa. It's a little ghoulish, to be honest.

And now with Derrick Boseman laying down that his brother would’ve supported this? Man vindication feels so damn good.

    They are not doing reshoots.

They haven't even finished filming the main film yet.

Reshoots happen AFTER they start putting the film together and realizing they need to go back and fix/edit somethings.

    This movie is WAY behind.

As much as I’m happy about all this news, Marvel needs to catch wind of this. It’s too late to get T’Challa recast for this movie but there’s time for them to shoot a post credits scene alluding to T’Challas return for BP3.
