For me, have the Suicide Squad accidently find a portal to the Marvel Universe. They start working on stealing advanced technology and kidnap some of Marvel's top scientists.(Moira McTaggart/Beast/Forge/etc (Xmen). Amanda Waller is the initial villain, but it flows into a Xmen/Suicide Squad/Black Widow/Checkmate issue. Especially if one or two scientist (Moira) decides to claim asylum.

It would be more of a spy thriller at first. It flows into the overall big-team fight later on.

If the Secret crisis never is done I want to stole this one to fix the Legion after he-who-must-be-not-named leaves. It is a great idea.

Captain Carrot, 'Mazing Man, Heckler, Ambush Bug, Mr. Mxyzptlk, Bizarro, Bat-Mite, the Creeper and the (original) Inferior Five are the only ones unaffected by a cosmic energy that's turning all heroes into villains.
They have to break the fourth wall and defeat the DC editors in mortal combat, then re-write the History of the DC Universe (and publish it) to correct all the inconsistencies and give the universe a solid foundation again.

Crossover issues would have the above characters appearing around panels, observing the scenes while commenting to the reader.

But what about the Marvel Comics side?

Heh... Sorry... I completely forgot to include them...

Impossible Man, Slapstick, Howard the Duck, Spider-Ham and the Great Lakes Avengers would be doing the same for Marvel.
And, of course, the Marvel Editors would be involved, also.

That’s been done so many times I don’t think it’ll result in a full scale war.

After reading Hulk #50, which had a lackluster ending. I actually thought of something that might be more interesting, but it requires a crossover.

Destruction of the Endless thought the Marvel universe was too perfect, so he sent the Hulk.
I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

    Beyonder vs The Antimoniter
    The Beyonder War!
The Beyonders other self/ cosmic child Molecule Man is looking for a way to kill the Beyonder and recruits the Anti Monitor. The Watcher manifests and tries to dissuade him reminding him of who he used to be....... The Original Demiurge! He gets shot by Deathstroke.
Sersi and the eternals are recruited by the Celestial to stop the coming cosmic war but they they are opposed by molecular constructs of the JLA and vice versa leading to many skirmishes
Then the entropy Anti matter wall of doom starts consuming both the verses on its journey to the Beyonders verse and which leads to the Antimoniter and Beyonder confronting each other at last which starts a war that cracks whole firmaments
Cue fugitus recruiting the Avengers and the FF to stave off multiversal Armageddon.
They go around the marvel universe and Dc verse trying to recruit the respective cosmic entities and powerhouses but most have fled or disintegrated. At last they reach out to the new gods who fuse with them through the mother boxes. Cue Orion Cap the dog of war, Big Barda She Hulk, Mister Miracle Iron Man etc
Cue eternals merging with JLA to create a Super uni mind which enables them to travel to the beyonder verse
Ultimately the merged new god Avengers and the Apokolips gods possessed FF try to push both of the warring entities into the source wall using nullifier merged new gods tech but they are resisting when the uni mind broadcasts the message that the beyonder and the Antimoniter are two sides of the same coin and neither can destroy the other This being the knowledge they acquired in their journey through the beyonder verse. The original Demiurge(AM) and the original Beyonder( turns out to be the original Superman) are .....BROTHERS. This causes the Antimoniter to hug hippie beyonder like a brother. Everyone goes home as the war ends. However Molecule Man is seen raising a baby monitor whom he will turn into his ultimate weapon in the war against the beyonder.

In celebration of the recent Eternals movie, I think the best way to start a cosmic-level crossover event is if it's revealed that Arishem the Judge crossed over to the DC Universe to judge whether or not the Earth of this reality was worthy of surviving. That causes the Guardians and the Green Lantern Corps and the New Gods to try and figure out where the Celestial came from to figure out a way to stop him, eventually leading them to cross over into the Marvel Universe.

    Which "Nick Fury"?

Original WWII hero or Samuel L. Jackson replacement?
