I mean, did he next reach into his pocket for his "cell phone" and then just leave his hand there too lol?

Even as a well-established and successful director like Ryan Coogler, you are still a black man and a target for police brutality if things get out of hand.
Glad he's okay

Now does Bank of America does it like that would be the question. This sounds like she did not know that. You can also withdraw money by going into a branch and talking to a bank teller. Most of the time, just like an ATM, you’ll need the card associated with the account you wish to draw from, as the teller will run the card, and also request that you enter your PIN, to access funds. This can take longer, but has the benefit of a presenting a real person to talk to if you have questions or any problems arise with the account.
The note, mask and glasses probably did not help.
Man, i woudln't even recognize ryan coogler if he walked in with shades and a mask lol

Exactly, in fact they were so greedy with piling feats to Shuri that they gave her credit for figuring out how to make vibranium Inert for travel... Something tchalla himself figured out on DW. That was a huge insult. She literally got piled with feats to the point of obsurdity
If I'm a bank teller and someone passes me that shady ass note with a mask and shades on I'm calling security just to be on the safe side lol. Life too short and the money not good enough to be guessing if someone is maybe committing a bank robbery.
And y'all gotta understand no one knows who Ryan Coogler is outside superhero fans and some cinephiles lol. A random person working at a bank more than likely doesn't know he's the guy who made Black Panther.
As a black man Coogler should know better and as a rich man he's strange to go to the front desk asking for that much. Glad he's ok though, this could've turned out a lotta different ways.
In other news Aquaman 2 moved to March. Giviing it more time o polish up the under water VFX. They finished filming a while back.
BPWF is still filming..
Also think they dont want that smoke with Avatar 2. Say what you will, but the VFX will be on point. You dont want to be a rushed looking film next to that..
I'd be curious what the extended version of the movie looked like. The more I watch BP the more I think a couple of those Shuri scenes are reshoots to help set up something later. The whole scene with her and Ross felt like reshoot.
T'Challa did put the bead in his back to stabilize him. He also figured out how to make Killmonger vulnerable.
I wonder if it was a conscious effort by Feige and crew (or maybe even Coogler) to strengthen Shuri and they kind of ending up OD it.
Like I said before thats not as much of a problem for me. Because they then decided to make her the smartest person in the MCU. So its not just a T'Challa issue.
The problem I have is them now shifting her to take on the mantle. Now you're just making her way over the top.

Chief, Mind,
There was nothing "shady" about the note Ryan wrote on the back of his withdrawal slip.
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/09/a...k-america.html
Mr. Coogler, best known for directing “Black Panther,” had handed a teller a withdrawal slip on Jan. 7, asking for more than $10,000, with a note on the back asking her to “be discreet when handing him the cash,” according to a police report.
Mr. Coogler also had his California state ID card as well as his Bank of America card when he approached the teller.
“I’m trying to get money out of my own account,” he told the police in the video. The teller “never said it was a problem,” Mr. Coogler said, adding that he had used his bank card and PIN and had given her his ID.
Coogler was calm when approached by the cops and really shouldn't have been put in handcuffs.
He most definitely should have been immediately released when they verified who he was, as far as having an account in the bank, without first trying to justify their actions.
