In one such case his friendship with the Earthling known as Adam Brashear would have taken a different path had he not interceded. Brashear, Cornell University grad, former Marine was selected to lead a scientific attempt to harness anti-matter through the creation of a "Negative Reactor" a bridge between the Negative Zone and the positive matter universe itself. An explosion in the reactor fused Brashear's body with mutagenic radiation. The result of which endued Adam with metahuman powers. In 1962 Adam received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President John F. Kennedy on the day the President asked him to retire; it had been discovered by the public that he was an African-American. As the superhero, Blue Marvel, Brashear wore a full-face helmet - but when it was damaged in a battle, his identity was revealed. A massive controversy ensued, and the president asked Adam to retire to subdue racial tension. But what if he defied the President's wishes?
