It's hard to believe that the stupid adoption retcon still hasn't been retconned.

They don't mention it and just hope people will forget about it.

So, why not make it official? It's not like we have a dearth of adopted characters in comics. I mean the three most famous comic characters were either adopted or practically adopted.

On a Fraction kick after rereading Hawkeye recently. Man, I want the Iron Man run as an omnibus so bad.

For me, it was probably some of the best characterisation of Tony we’ve ever seen (couple up with Bendis on Avengers pre-heroic age)

Instead, this run will soon be collected in several modern epic collection.

Because most Iron Man fans are against the whole idea. It was basically a needless retcon.

I may be wrong but I don't think many writers are interested in bringing it up.

It's still considered canon until it's brought up and retconned. Someone can do it in a single panel though.

Wasn't it done to introduce the 616 version of Arno (Iron Man 2020), who was Howard's real son? Of course Arno has become irrelevant now that 2020 is over.

It was Bendis doing his usual thing. Bring in/create a pet character, focus on that character and leave everyone going wtf.

Yeah, it hasn't been retconned at this point. But I don't think any writer is really interested in bringing it up. Marvel is content with letting it fade away.

Funny enough, it was Kieron Gillen who did the adoption retcon. That's mostly been forgotten, and even he didn't bring it up the last time he wrote Iron Man, in AXE: Judgment Day --- Avengers, which focused on Tony's judgment by the reanimated Celestial corpse the Avengers had been using as their base throughout the then-concurrent Jason Aaron run. The most Bendis did with it was answer the question of who Tony's "actual" parents were, and it was Dan Slott who developed Arno Stark after Gillen introduced him into the present-day MU as the ultimate villain of his Iron Man run.

This is a good one. If Captain America is going up against the Mandarin, what would it be like if Iron Man went up against the Red Skull or Baron Zemo?
