Black Panther Appreciation: Wakanda Forever!

What's crazy is that I have a feeling DC is going to basically make an awesome Namor movie and slap the name Aquaman on it. Which sucks because that will kill Namor's own shot at a movie. Too bad Marvel didn't get it's act together and cast Momoa as Namor first.

This has nothing to do with marvel not getting its act together. They can't use Namor because of legal issues.

It’s slightly more complicated than that. Let’s put it this way – there are entanglements that make it less easy. There are older contracts that still involve other parties that mean we need to work things out before we move forward on it. As opposed to an Iron Man or any of the Avengers or any of the other Marvel characters where we could just put them in.

For once DC will roll out characters and Marvel's will seem like copies--because DC got them out first.

Dc tossed out Steel as the first black lead movie between the two. Then came Blade. Steel is still not on DVD and we are hearing about a Blade remake after 3 films and 2 tv shows.

Being first is not always the best thing-all you do is allow whoever comes in second to see your mistakes.

The only questions for Marvel on this is

1) who will give us the Black Panther value meal? Since McDonalds will get Aquaman fish burgers.
2) will we see toys?
3) what merchandise will we see?

The only similarity between Blade and Steel was that they're both black guys. The similarities between Aquaman and a hypothetical Namor film (I say hypothetical because as I just linked it cannot happen because of rights issues) are much stronger.

I would be more worried, if DC has shown to be capable of making a quality movie without Nolan. A great movie needs more than a great poster. Its a big plate, so there is room for all to eat.

Count me in as a bigger fan of Iman being in a BP movie than Grace Jones.
