    Avengers #170 Apr 1978
The Korvac Saga: Part 3 of 10 - "Though Hell Should Bar the Way!"
Janet Pym is tired of having the deactivated Jocasta at her home, so she convinces her husband, Hank Pym, to bring the one-time bride of Ultron to Avengers Mansion.

That seems like a good idea, until Jocasta comes to life!
Luckily, the Beast, Scarlet Witch, Vision, and Wonder Man are present to help the Wasp and Yellowjacket corral the runaway bride!
But the golden avenger and the star-spangled avenger stop their teammates in mid-attack!

Why does Iron Man want Jocasta to go free? Could it have something to do with a certain adamantium groom?

Cameo appearances by Vance Astrovik and the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Avengers Lineup: Beast, Captain America, Iron Man, Scarlet Witch, Thor, Vision, Wasp, Wonder Man, and Yellowjacket.

Plot and Script by Jim Shooter. Plot and Pencils by George Pérez. Inks by Pablo Marcos.

The runs I've enjoyed for Avengers:

Bob Harras (before he went off the rails)
    Kurt Busiek
    Jonathan Hickman

So glad that now that I'm back in the comics game Aaron is taking over.

Around the time the Gatherers Saga concluded and Epting left, I suppose. Love that period, also.

    Peace

I've loved many eras of Avengers. Soft spot for the 330s-end of that volume. The Heroes Return relaunch and Hickman's volume. The last 20 or so issues of West Coast were mighty as well.

I really liked The Gatherers Saga. I'd rate it in one of my top 10 runs.

Bendis Pledges He Won’t Repeat His Avengers Disassembled Mistake With Superman

As writer Brian Michael Bendis prepares to launch his run next month on DC’s Superman, he promises to avoid the initial missteps he made at the beginning of his tenure on Marvel’s Avengers.

“I’ve been thinking about this [with Avengers #500] lately,” Bendis reflected in an exclusive interview with CBR. “That was where I thought it would be oh so clever to blow everything up. Some fans liked it, and some hated it. There were a lot of arguments online, and a fan said to me, ‘We’re Avengers fans. All we buy is Avengers. And we have no idea who you are, but you came over and kicked all our toys over. You said, “Haha! This is fun, right?” And we said, “No! We were enjoying that, and you kicked everything over!”‘”

“I’ve thought about that a lot. They weren’t wrong,” Bendis continued. “There was a criticism there that I take to heart. It’s not that I would have changed the story of Avengers, but the glee with which I did things, I could have been more cool with. So I thought about that a lot coming into this [Superman]. It’s tough when you’re coming on, but the book has been in a good place creatively. There’s nothing to blow up. There’s no reason to do that. I’m coming in strong, and big stuff is going to happen with Superman — but it doesn’t have that ‘Haha!’ attitude.”

Still don't care for Bendis writing, but i have to admit it's a nice change of attitude. You have to admire someone who owns and seems to learn from his mistakes. Here's hopping he does a good job at Superman, a character that I was enjoying quite a lot the most recent run (helmed by Tomasi, Gleason and Jurgens).

    Peace

It's nice to see Bendis being reflective over how he handled Dissasembled.

It's sort if impressive, given how ridiculously sucessfull Disassembled was. He could have just looked at the numbers, and not give the nay sayers a second thought. But despite the sucess, he took his criticism seriously. And I think that's the mark of a creator who actually gives a damn.

If only he was more thoughtful throughout his run and eased some of his concepts in instead of taking a hammer and smashing everything with glee.

Yeah, but I also remmember he pulled bunch of Byrne stuff when questioned about him ignoring continuity.(Hey, she catch a cold last time, I shall bring her cancer, that is the only natural progression right?)
That was one hell of lame excuse. Maybe now he finally thinks about that when he was not in such possession of power?
