Comic Tony lives!
Movie Tony lives!
Let's say one of them was going to be killed off and you got to pick. who lives?
MCU Stark is terribly obnoxious. I'm all for Comics Tony.
This Tony:
Then comics Tony, then the obnoxious MCU Tony.
What's the difference these days? Isn't the comic book Tony now a little more obnoxious and slimy than the movie version?
Comic Tony deserves to live. He's done far more and is more compelling than the MCU version.
Movie Tony, so far he still has managed to maintain a likeable and heroic aspect to himself that the last few years worth of comic books haven't.
If we're going off of currently, give me movie Tony in a heartbeat. While he may be egotistical, he'd never cross the lines "Superior" Tony has in just a handful of issues.
I say get rid of them both. Maybe they'll kill each other in Secret Wars.
Comic Tony was one of the biggest contributors to my decision to stop buying Marvel comics. A decision I have maintained from the start of Dark Reign to right-the-Hell-now.
He used to be a good character. Then he became an unlikeable scumbag who pretty much singlehandedly started this trend of heroes who act more like villains.
Movie Tony? What a breath of fresh air! Yeah, he's as arrogant and narcissistic as comic Tony. He still manages to do it in a likeable way, while still acting like a real hero.
Comic Tony can die twice, for all I care. Movie Tony is the only Tony I give a crap about.
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
--Lord Alfred Tennyson--
Tony has been fun since his inversion though.
I want them both. He's been my favorite character since I was 5. Way before the movies and I always wanted a great Iron Man movie and they picked RDJ who i was a HUGE fan of before the movies. So I don't want either one to die.
"We live in a world of cowards. We live in a world full of small minds who are afraid. We are ruled by those who refuse to risk anything of their own. Who guard their over bloated paucities of power with money. With false reasoning. With measured hesitance. With prideful, recalcitrant inaction. With hateful invective. With weapons. F@#K these selfish fools and their prevailing world order." Tony Stark
Movie. Ten years ago I may have gone the other way but current comic Tony is emblematic of everything that's wrong with Marvel comics these days.
The "gritty anti-hero, willing to make the necessary sacrifice for the greater good!!! Huzzah!!!"
It's vomit inducing. It's been absolutely been run into the ground and I'm tired of it, and, as excited as I am about a major comics event coming to the big screen in Civil War, I'm terrified of what it may mean. It was SO refreshing to actually enjoy heroes who actually fought evil and acted like heroes. It reignited my interest in comics and superheroes after years away.
