How is it hopeful that he calls one of the most independent assertive female comic characters a slut?
I...do not get that line of thinking.

I hate to ruffle even more feathers, but....

This annoys me. I was giving Goyer a chance as a DC movie guy, but his comments about Martian Manhunter are not nice. It's proof that he is one of the ones who doesn't care about introducing the comic characters to the public besides your Superman/Batman lot, which is not somebody who should be allowed to be involved (whereas you have other better people doing things like MCU or Arrow who actually care about bringing in characters people may like). It's also insulting to comic readers and somebody that disrespectful to both the readers and characters needs to stop deciding on comic movies until they learn better.
Also his comments about Shulkie are wrong. She is a intelligent respectable lawyer and while she may be sexually liberated, she is much more than that. She was the shy girl who gained confidence when she transformed, that is the fantasy she is and one that is totally fine to have; the need to be someone greater is also why we have characters like Shazam too.
She's also Hulk's cousin and so creepy "old man logan" comics aside, she'll never be a love interest to the Hulk. Besides she isn't somebody only he can be with, since she's been with a lot of guys, even (mostly) in hulked form. Something she is totally allowed to do if characters like Tony Stark can do it too.
Very disappointed in Goyer today. Of course if he can't even respect the characters in DC that he supposedly is supposed to bring to the big screen, then he won't be able to respect the Marvel ones from the competition. Maybe he has something against green people?

Cyborg is a Leaguer forever, not a Titan"There are two main times when comic book fans gripe: When something changes and when something stays the same."
And DC wonders what the f**k to do with Wonder Woman while Marvel has fans baying for a Black Widow movie.
Fools, utter moronic fools.
I just want to point out that Goyer insulted the Martian Manhunter as being "too obscure" only a few days after a new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer was released.
(Also, She-Hulk is hardly the first "female version of a male character" in comics. Supergirl, Namora, and Mary Marvel all predate Shulkie by decades.)
Goyer can't write to save his life. He's a hack, and this kind of attitude is expected.
Haha, that's absolutely right. This shows that any character done well can be introduced the public at large. It doesn't matter how "obscure" something is beforehand, because you have to start for somewhere and it could work out great. People didn't know Star-Lord and now they will. People may not know the Martian Manhunter but if he's given a chance, people will. Same goes for many different characters. Goyer just writing off a hero like MMH off is being ignorant to how comic movies can do well.

"The guy charged with writing movies based on comic book characters doesn't seem to actually know much about comic books," is basically the idea I've seen fans take from all this.
(If he had said She-Hulk was created to protect a copyright for Marvel, that would have been true. It also doesn't matter to people because numerous creators have done wonderful things with She-Hulk and she represents ideas that are well worth exploring in fiction.)
The comments were crude and offensive. I don't give a rat's ass what the context was or what he was trying to convey. He came off looking very bad.
