    Default RESULTS 2017 X-Books Awards

    Hello all,

Here it all starts, the results of the 2017 X-BOOK AWARDS VOTING.

I will post a few results each day and you can discuss it all in this very same thread.

This year you can still put in your votes for the categories not yet published. So, if you forgot all about it, you can still head out to the voting thread and vote. However, those who already voted can not change their votes anymore.

A shame two out of the 3 are announced to be cancelled soon. Let's hope the speculation of Iceman getting a team on the west coast are true.

Generation X and Iceman are to be cancelled... one can see the X-Office competent work in knowing what their readers like..

The results of a reader poll on one forum is hardly indicative of the interests of the wider audience. Otherwise the Cyclops solo would have been selling in the 100,000s. :-P

Least Favorite Ongoing X-Title of 2017
Last years winner was also hated much this year, but one was even worse (or maybe just fresher in our memories). The runner up is X-Men Blue, which actually is getting better lately with the current arc.

    3rd place
With 21 and 2 times voted as number 1
    Weapon X
    3 - Weapon-X.jpg

    2nd place
With 37 points and 5 times voted as number 1, the winner of least favorite in 2016
    Extraordinary X-Men
    2 - Extra.jpg

    HUGE GAP....

    1st place
With 71 points and 16 times voted as number 1
    X-Men Gold

Least favorite sounds about right. On the forum, of course.Clearly broader audience thinks differently, since Weapon X is a best seller and starting a new arc in May.

Same with Gold. The forum seems to hate it, far as majority goes. But it's still going. Unlike 2/3 of the winners.

They're flagship titles, of course they're still going.

For now it seems all right and nothing surprising as some have said the majority opinion in the forum not always correspond to most readers.

I'm a little surprised with GX more people than I imagined liked the title.

Some of them still seem to get axed. Now if only these would, and we could get something a bit better.

Yeah, that's what I've been noticing. I really enjoy Gold and it's currently my favorite X-Book. And with the customers I talk to at my comic shop, it's a favorite among many of them and a very well received book at NY Comic Con. Meanwhile, most people I talk to seem to dislike Generation X (I actually do like Gen X), yet it's the number 1 comic on this forum. Funny how different groups of people see these books so differently.

I think if you put A-stars on a series, it will always sell better than lesser known characters. Doesn't have to be the books are better. Anyway, next category coming up....

Favorite X-One-Shot or Mini Series of 2017
Last years winner was the great Elixer story in the Uncanny X-Men Annual that won. My opinion is thwart this year was not the best regarding one shoots and mini series, but 2018 promises to be better with Phoenix Resurrection, Legion, Domino and Rogue & Gambit.

    3rd place
With 30 points and 5 times voted as number 1
All New X-men Annual (Idie on date and Moonstar/Sunspot story)

    2nd place
With 40 points and 9 times voted as number 1
    Generations: Phoenix
    2 - Generations Phoenix.jpg

    1st place
With 48 points and 9 times voted as number 1
    Secret Empire: United

The issue with GenX was twofold (and it wasn’t the writing - that was great):

    1) The art. Even with good writing it’s hard for a book to succeed without good art to back it up. Comics are a visual medium. In this case the art quality just wasn’t there.
    2) The cast. GenX fans wanted the original team as the book’s focus, but instead we got Eyeballs & Antlers & Mr. Arrogant Pinkhair. The OG GenX folks were almost like a side story. They should have been the focus.

I wanted so bad for that book to succeed.
