I don't see Emma as the type of villain she used to be when she was in the Hellfire Club under Claremont, at least not anymore. Filling the role Magneto used to (or something similar) seems like a better piece of character progression for her in my eyes.

Agreed. Emma could make a great antagonist, not least because she knows the X-Men's methods so well, and knows so many of the X-Men inside and out - whose mind hadn't she been in by IvX? As always, the issue is going to be execution.

Really depends. Jordan D. White is the new X-editor after MP left. And he's outright stated Emma was better when she wasn't trying to fit into the X-Men. So seems he may lean for Emma being / staying a villain again.

A writer's personal like or dislike should influence how they treat characters, but sadly it does. Such as Storm's treatment by Guggenheim. The treatment of Gambit & Sabretooth. Editorial apparently has no issues with the downfall of all these characters in favor of their pets. Same with the preferential treatment of the Wolverines.

So what shouldn't happen with Marvel means nothing. lol Because persona preferences will show in the story, regardless of continuity. Like how Creed's inversion has been erased and forgotten about. Not good writing, but Status Quo is God. Emma may very well be heading in the same direction. And I hear Daken has fallen pray to it.
