Default Age of Marvels: New Universe – May 2021 Solicitations

We present to you Age of Marvels: New Universe, a collection of all new fan-made issues on “sale” this month for MAY 2021!

What is “Age of Marvels” and how does it work?

Age of Marvels is a fan fiction universe and solicitation game that has been in existence on the CBR boards for well over a decade! It has gone through several iterations and has survived forum reboots! The way it works is that “plotters” write short solicitations for monthly comic books! Then participants “buy” the books they want to read! The books with the most buys get rewards. Sounds fun, right? So let’s do this! Which of this month's solicits interest and excite you? Let us know by posting which books you'd pick up in the virtual Age of Marvels Store (this solicitation thread). You can pull as many as you'd like, but also consider your "virtual budget" when making your selections, as sales are used to reward our titles and plotters. Registers are open all month and sales are tallied at the end of the month.

Absolutely anyone can make purchases right here in this thread - so please do!. It’s free and is basically just saying “I’d read this” or “I like this!” So let us know! There has never been a more excelsior time to join the fun!

If you want more information on Age of Marvels or are interested in plotting yourself, please visit us at the Age of Marvels Bullpen Thread.

    CAPTAIN AMERICA #29
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by FRANK MILLER
    Art by SEAN GORDON MURPHY
    “мокрое дело”
The new Captain America continues his mission to redefine the title’s meaning and erase his predecessor’s legacy. Arkady Rossovich isn’t prone to giving speeches like Rogers was, but when he does do press, the questions are pre-screened thanks to complicit media facilitated by M.O.D.O.K. Just as Sally Floyd is lobbing him a softball about his favorite type of dog (Siberian Husky, obviously), a glint of light catches his eye - and he raises his carbonadium shield fast enough to deflect the sniper’s bullet. The shooter is quickly identified... as Bucky Barnes!
The two former Soviet assets are no strangers. In fact, the Winter Soldier, Omega Red, and the Black Widow were once part of an empowered wetworks unit affiliated with the KGB’s Spetsbureau. Neither one has forgotten that...
    1968.
The Brezhnev Doctrine was that any threat to socialist rule in a Central or Eastern European state was a threat to them all, and therefore justified intervention. The Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia had just succeeded, but the Soviets wanted a... quieter solution to a similar problem in nearby Symkaria. The Soviet Super-Soldiers were sent to the capital, Aniana, to remove the sitting government. Their only real opposition? A group of Symkarian “enhanced” specialists backed by the CIA’s Operation: Pack Animal. The Soviets weren’t prepared for the desperation of the Wild Pack, and Omega Red’s actions that night still haunt the Winter Soldier...
Plus: A Frontlines Op-Ed by Sally Floyd, “A Buck Short: How I Survived an Attack from Bucky Barnes, Radicalized Ex-Military Extremist.”

    FANTASTIC FOUR #29
    Written by KELLY SUE DECONNICK
    Plot by CAPTCLEGHORN
    Art by TOM GRUMMETT
Two Invisible Women battle in a story that can only be called…
    “CHESHIRE CATFIGHT!”
As some of you may have guessed Susanne Storm isn’t our Sue. How can we tell the difference between them? Evil Susanne has a beard 😊 No, Susanne HATES being called Suzie. Susanne has been travelling through dimensions using technology created by her deceased husband travelling to those worlds which had survived the Gamma Ray Burst.
Susanne: “You are so much like the other weak versions of me, depending on your family foursome to support you. I use all of you to strengthen my control. Your minor political achievement is interesting and I shall take advantage of it to increase my power. You, a pale imitation cannot stop me.”
    Sue Storm: “Hold my daughter.”
The controversy regarding future nazi Thundra and the Invisible Woman she finally allies herself with is resolved.
And before we forget to mention it, the Mad Thinker Rhona Burchill and her awesome android manage to break into the base at Californication to humiliatingly kill our beloved heroes. I wonder if she ‘ll be able to tell the Storm women apart.
This arc is based heavily on an idea from whitecrown.

Plus, there was a toy inside!

    HULK IN HELL #4
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by MATT KINDT
    Art by RON GARNEY
    “I SMASHED THE DEVIL”
“And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.” - Revelation 12:9
The Hulk vs. Mephisto! ‘Nuff said!
    ...or is it?
This is the ultimate confrontation that’s been building since the soul of the Hulk was first sent to Hell! One would think that not even the green Goliath could smash the devil himself in his own sulfur and brimstone-filled realm... but something strange is afoot. Mephisto traditionally has ultimate power over the damned souls in Hell. He doesn’t have any power over the Hulk though, and he doesn’t know why. But the real villain here, the one who instigated all of this, does.
The damned father, Brian Banner, knows that the Hulk who has smashed every demonic entity in his path for the last several issues is not a complete soul. He’s just part of his son’s soul, and as long as Bruce Banner is tethering the Hulk to Earth, his soul-form is unbeatable in the underworld! He’ll kill Mephisto and leave an empty throne... upon which Brian Banner intends to sit!
Meanwhile, the Ghost Rider, with a Hulk-free Bruce Banner in tow, blazes a path towards the nearest Hellmouth. His plan? Liberate the soul of the Hulk and reunite it with Bruce’s. But is he about to inadvertently damn them both?

    THE MIGHTY THOR #29
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by ALAN MOORE
    Art by MIKE MIGNOLA
“THE TRIAL OF THE ALL-MOTHER” part three “VERDICT”
The jury has deliberated and the verdict is in. The former All-Mother Freyja... is guilty on all counts! Now, it falls upon King Thor to issue a sentence upon his wicked stepmother. But what will it be? Banishment? Imprisonment? ...Death? Surely Freyja’s treasonous coup merits no less than the ultimate penalty.
As Thor contemplates retributive justice, he’s visited by an unexpected guest offering sage advice; the kind only a mother can provide. One of the few remaining Elder Gods, progenitor of pantheons and Mother Earth herself: Gaea arrives in Asgard to beg her bastard son for leniency. Thor, however, has little affection for his absentee parent, especially as she now advocates mercy towards the fiend who started a war in which she did not fight.
Gaea makes points he already considered: the fear of creating a Vanir martyr, the mitigating circumstances attendant to historical injustices Freyja suffered, the fact that she raised him, etc. Yet one point, her real point, grabs Thor’s attention. They’ll need the Realms that fought with Freyja as allies - for the Götterdämmerung War weakened Yggdrasil, creating certain vulnerabilities that another Elder God might exploit...
Elsewhere, Balder the Brave emerged from the rubble that his half-brother Thor buried him under (see THE MIGHTY THOR #26). Yet having fought on the losing side of a war, he has nowhere to go and no friends left to turn to - none, save the severed head of Malekith the Accursed. The elven skull has taken to talking to him, telling him things that even the living Malekith couldn’t know. Things like, how to complete the (almost) invulnerability spell that his mother Freyja cast upon him. Balder is told he his answers lie within a certain book... a book called the Darkhold... a book authored by the Elder God Chthon! With nothing else to quest for, Balder sets out to find it...

    STAR WARS: LEGACY #1
    Plot by RANDOMIDEAGUY
    Written by CLAUDIA GRAY
    Art by TERRY DODSON
“WHILL OF THE UNKNOWN” Part 1
We open on a well decorated desert planet on the edge of the galaxy. A young man chases an alien across the tribal themed town. He's got a lot of tricks and even a bit of the force on his side, but ultimately the alien gets away.
Luckily he runs smack into the hairy arm of a Wookie. Thanks for the assist, Uncle Chewie. Han locks down the informant - turns out he's here to talk to Han, he just got spooked because he thought the "First Order was here to finish the job". Han gets some more details but asks for Ben (Solo, the young man from before) to wait outside the room.
Ben's a little mad that he's getting sidelined. This is made worse when Han asks him to travel back to the capital and give a holocron to Leia. What's Han to do? Well he's going to recruit a team right here for a mission into First Order space.
We have something of a heist style set up as Han interviews the sorry lot that occupies this far flung space gas station. Some of the interviews are funny, some are serious. We eventually zero in on three candidates: Finn, Rey, and Poe. They're hired to be the Muscle, the Mechanic, and the Co-Pilot respectively.
Han arrived to this planet on the Millenium Falcon, but it's too conspicuous. The informant tricks them out with a new ride for the mission - THE DAWN TREADER. Han and co head out to the wreckage of the ship the informant was on when his crew got wiped out by the FIRST ORDER.
What does Ben do? Well, he's not about to be sidelined. He's a bit impetuous like that. So he forges a fake identity as a spice trader named "Kylo Ren", joins up with a crew of ne'er do wells, and "suggests" they head to the wreckage site that Han is already headed to.
    What could possibly go wrong?

STAR WARS: TALES OF THE JEDI #1
    Plot by RANDOMIDEAGUY
    Written by DANIEL JOSÉ OLDER
    Art by GENNDY TARTAKOVSKY
    “INTERLUDE” Part 1 (3 Pages)
Luke Skywalker and a few conveniently masked friends arrive on the heavily fortified world of CORUSCANT, the center of the GALACTIC EMPIRE. The truth is much less clear here than one would expect, Imperial Moffs are meeting to discuss a post-Palpatine war effort. Many don't believe that he's even dead, or that rumors of this "Luke Skywalker" are more than hearsay. Regardless, Luke is not here for that - instead he works to quickly infiltrate the Emperor's vault and gain access to HOLOCRONS which contain the last known record of the HISTORY OF THE JEDI. Let's plug one in and see what we've missed.
“THE PHANTOM MENACE” Part 1 (29 Pages)
Obi-Wan Kenobi is an upstart young Jedi Knight just making his way in the world. We open with a transmission from Grand Master Yoda, who informs Kenobi that he was selected for this mission to "prove his detractors wrong." Apparently Kenobi has been labeled as a hot head and this mission gives him a chance to make his case for promotion to Jedi Master.
Obi-Wan boards a TRADE FEDERATION ship enforcing a blockade above important Republic resource world ALDERAAN. Obi-Wan is to meet with the trade federation representative and negotiate a cessation of the blockade.
He enters a board room and begins negotiations with federation representative MAUL, who appears via hologram. It turns out that the Federation (a "trade union" of sorts for non-human Republic worlds) believes that the human worlds are being unfairly favored in trade and deals.
The blockade is something of a "formal protest" and they refuse to move until they can make their case to the Chancellor. Obi-Wan agrees to help pass along these sort of communications, when he notices a strange smell - poison gas!
Obi-Wan must bust out of the room, cut his way through a small army of alien soldiers, and take an emergency landing pod down to the world below. What's a Jedi Knight to do?

    THUNDERBOLTS #9
    Written by ALEX DE CAMPI
    Plot by H-E-D
Art by CARMEN CARNERO & GABRIEL HARDMAN
Oh no, looks like the Ladykillers weren’t such a slam dunk for the Thunderbolts.
Rapid-onset adamantium poisoning from their weapons has shut down Cletus Kasady’s brain.
A brain dead Cletus means an out of control Carnage, rampaging through one of the world’s richest cities!
Granted, that’s not so different from a normal Carnage – only this one is putting just as much energy into killing Moonstone and Archangel as anything else!
Elsewhere, Radioactive Man’s EMP has disabled Zero/One’s army, with only a slight sprinkle of deadly radiation sprinkled in. Nothing Zemo’s lawyers can’t handle. Though he’s also completely fried all the technology in the Silicon Valley. Oops.
He’s rather spent from the effort, so he stays behind to take care of Troll while Songbird faces a down-but-not-out Zero/One, one-on-one!
Meanwhile, Norah Winters’ source, turns out to run a “personal development company”, AKKΔBA. It doesn’t take much research (at all) to learn it’s a likely front for the controversial organization known as Akkabalogy. Some would call it a cult, and by some, we mean pretty much everybody outside of AKKΔBA. Is Norah getting in over her head?

    THE ULTIMATES #21
    Written by KIERON GILLEN
    Plot by H-E-D
Art by EMANUELA LUPACCHINO & ARIELA KRISTANTINA
"DARK ULTIMATES" Part 3 – "TAKE A BOW"
    TWENTY-FIFTH ISSUE EXTRA-SIZED FINALE
In a graveyard that was once a nation, the last three members of the Ultimates fight tooth and nail to defend what remains of its civilian populace from the so-called Dark Ultimates!
Even with powerhouses like Blue Marvel and Spectrum, there’s only so long they can hold out against the villains’ superior numbers – and especially the threat of the Void, Spellbreaker’s pet nightmare.
Just when all hope seems lost, the tide of the battle turns as the Void dissolves before their very eyes.
At just that moment, the true Ultimates find their numbers doubled as Karma, Spellbinder and Ond suddenly join the fray!
The Sentry sacrificed his life to give the TRUE Jennifer Kale the energy to transport herself, Karma and Ond back to the mortal realm, destroying his shadow-self in the process.
There’s no time for celebration or explanation, however, as Spellbreaker threatens to use the Aether to unleash a ritual to suffocate the entire planet in the same crystalline prison that once held her!
PLUS: The Ultimates have saved the day! Shocking, I know.
Erica Fortune, her connection to magic sundered climatically by Jennifer, is in custody. The rest of the Dark Ultimates have vanished into the wind.
With that threat ended, the Ultimates come to an agreement – they’re going to disband!
They acted in time to save the world – but not Jennifer Kale’s reputation. Thanks to Spellbreaker’s disguise, Jennifer has the most hated face in the world!
Meanwhile, after being separated from her body for so long, what Karma needs is time on her own.
Ond, on the other hand, is off to Asgard, for the first time in eons. Will King Thor welcome him with open arms?
Blue Marvel’s heart is in the lab, but Monica’s is in the field. The world needs defenders – and Spectrum just might be Earth’s mightiest hero!
Captain Marvel sets off to space! Less paperwork out there.
And a final, big, thank you to everybody who’s been reading and buying the series over the past two years!

    Plot by NX01A
    Written by KURT BUSIEK
    Art by PEPE LARRAZ
Theme Song: Evanescence - Bring Me To Life
    ”TRANSFIGURATIONS”
•The mad geneticist known as SINISTER merged hundreds of mutants with the fauna of Krakatoa for unknown reasons aka Science. Now his 'unwilling' right hand man, DR. HENRY McCOY aka the bouncing BEAST, is using what's left of Sinister's technology to reverse the XENTAUR process with varying levels of success. Some mutant-animal hybrids look human again but their minds remain largely bestial, some become even more animal but are mentally human, and even the most successful reversions still retain animal properties. With such a high failure rate, why is the Beast so happy?
•JEAN GREY's consciousness inhabits the body of demon-mutant psionicist PHENEX while her counterpart seems to have died in Jean's corpse. With MAGIK missing, what will Phenex's fellow demon-mutants do to retrieve her in mind and body?
•Jean's new body has a death touch which only fellow demon-mutants are immune to, so CYCLOPS can't even hug and comfort her. Or can he? Since the contest of wands, Scott's optic blasts channel energy from the Crimson Cosmos but can he use it to augment his strength and durability?
•A peaceful rally on the University of Virginia campus in support of pro-mutant Amendment XXX quickly turns violent when a dozen men and women with energy weapons open fire on the crowd! Operation Z-TOL has begun, and there may be no stopping FALCO and the SPLINTER SOLDIERS!

“YOU KNOW WHAT'S THE RAGE THIS YEAR? ...HATS.”
Did you ever wonder how Heather Douglas, known as Moondragon, gets her head to look so sleek and smooth? It’s an amazingly complex methodology but the current restrictions on salons, spas, and barbers with the COVID crisis have made getting hair professionally done problematic. See how she cares for her look here.
As for those who ask “But isn’t she a space faring hero? Surely (Don’t call us Shirley), other planets aren’t restricted for COVID. That is so, but frankly, Earth has the BEST hair care in this part of the universe.

Dr. Fauci once stated that masks were unnecessary, but more recently recommended wearing two masks. Now, however, at his most recent press conference, he recommends wearing five masks! But is this really Fauci, or a master of disguise who loves masks more than anything. Has the Chief Medical Advisor been replaced… by the Chameleon?

AGENTS OF A.R.C.A.N.A. #29 (I'd buy this for the Agatha Harkness pin-up alone)
AGENTS OF FURY #8 (I'm buying this because I'm afraid Nick Fury has someone undercover in my computer.)
AMAZING FANTASY #16 (I was told there wuz gonna be porn.)
BLACK PANTHER: KING OF WAKANDA #21 (I'm concerned that the AOM-NU still prohibits Red M&Ms. Or was the red dye really something that gave Nuke his abilities?)
CAPTAIN AMERICA #29 (I heard sally Floyd did a questionable movie with extremely questionable costuming. Yes, I'm peddling clickbait.)
THE COLD-BLOODED LIZARD OMNIBUS (A future when repto-sapiens conquer the Earth? I hope the current writer of Curt Conners doesn't steal this idea. Oh, wai [rubs hands and cackles])
FANTASTIC FOUR #29 (I am insufferably proud of the title "Cheshire Catfight")
FANTASTIC FOUR volume 4: “CIVIL WAR” (This should be reread before the FF commit fully to "Negation". Seriously why can't this be more like real world comcis with a reset button at the end of every "event".)
HULK IN HELL #4 (I suspect the meaning of the little used German word "Hulkenhell" will be instrumental in this epic.)
INFINITY WATCH #7 (What's the cubic zirconium version of Terrigan Crystals? Asking for a friend.)
THE INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #21 (When cheering "Winna Winna! Chicken Dinner!" is tainted because the chicken is inedible.)
THE MIGHTY THOR #29 (Baldur, we all love you, but this fixation you have for needing constant quests is hurting us all...)
NEW GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #5 (Heavily implied part 5 of 26 here. Is Sue Grafton ghostwriting this series?)
PETER PARKER, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #3 (Because of all the decades Wilson Fisk has been a humble spice ,merchant, what we've all wanted was more detail about that business venture of his.)
SORCERERS OF THE STARS #21 (I LOVE the numbering work done here. We're not worthy!)
STAR WARS: LEGACY #1 (Speaking of numbering work, where are issues 4, 5, and 6? It's Star Wars, man, that's how counting works with the force, isn't it?)
STAR WARS: TALES OF THE JEDI #1 (GENNDY TARTAKOVSKY is the man!)
THUNDERBOLTS #9 (A brain-dead Cletus? Do we need or deserve more? I think not, pilgrim!)
THE ULTIMATES #21 (Twice as big for the same amount of money? Yes, please!)
UNCANNY X-MEN #29 (FALCO and the SPLINTER SOLDIERS is pretty much the perfect comic booky group name.)
AOM QUARANTINE SPECIAL #13 (Thanks to the ever busy Exciter for keeping the captain from looking foolish on his own)

    Excellent, wallet-hurting month! My pulls:

AGENTS OF A.R.C.A.N.A. #29 (it was Señor Scratchy all along!)
AGENTS OF FURY #8 (spy vs spy vs spy!)
AMAZING FANTASY #16 (I’m proud this story was, in part, inspired by my aborted lasik procedure!)
BLACK PANTHER: KING OF WAKANDA #21 (where can I get Vibranium shoes? I assume they’re limited edition!)
    CAPTAIN AMERICA #29
THE COLD-BLOODED LIZARD OMNIBUS (I’d just like to point out that, from those old issues, in 2014 I predicted a worldwide epidemic would occur in 2020 - I just thought it’d be from lizards rather than bats!)
FANTASTIC FOUR #29 (the best brawl we *won’t* see!)
FANTASTIC FOUR volume 4: “CIVIL WAR” (what’s so civil about war anyway?)
    HULK IN HELL #4
INFINITY WATCH #7 (timelines, man, they’re crazy!)
THE INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #21 (blood is not thicker than iron!)
    THE MIGHTY THOR #29
NEW GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #5 (Bro-lar sounds like he lifts)
PETER PARKER, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #3 (I never cook without adding Fisk spices)
SORCERERS OF THE STARS #21 (the hype is real! NEGATION next month!)
STAR WARS: LEGACY #1 (treating Han with respect rather than making him a deadbeat? Suck it, Abrams!)
STAR WARS: TALES OF THE JEDI #1 (post ROTJ Luke and improved prequel setting get my buy)
THUNDERBOLTS #9 (ohh, can I get audited for Akkabalogy?)
THE ULTIMATES #21 (I have some connections with Asgard, I’ll put in a good word for Ond. This series will be missed!)
UNCANNY X-MEN #29 (trust the science!)
AOM QUARANTINE SPECIAL #13 (oh you mean the Shi’ar aren’t on lockdown? I guess they’re more concerned about... bird flu)
