Default DC Next Dawn - February Solicits!

We present to you DC Next Dawn, a collection of all new fan-made issues on “sale” this month, FEBRUARY 2023!

What is “DC Next Dawn” and how does it work?

Next Dawn, previously known as “New Dawn,” is a fan fiction universe and solicitation game that has been in existence on the CBR boards for approximately ten years! It has gone through several iterations and has survived forum reboots! The way it works is that “plotters” write short solicitations for monthly comic books! Then participants “buy” the books they want to read! The books with the most buys get rewards. Sounds fun, right? So let’s do this! Which of this month's solicits interest and excite you? Let us know by posting which books you'd pick up in the virtual Next Dawn Store (this solicitation thread). You can pull as many as you'd like, but also consider your "virtual budget" when making your selections, as sales are used to reward our titles and plotters. Registers are open all month and sales are tallied at the end of the month.

Absolutely anyone can make purchases right here in this thread - so please do!. It’s free and is basically just saying “I’d read this” or “I like this!” So let us know!

If you want more information on Next Dawn or are interested in plotting yourself, please visit us at the Next Dawn Bullpen Thread.

    Behold! Our monthly archive!
This is the repository of our prior work; a compilation of all the monthly solicitation posts since the forum was reset in 2014.

An agent is assigned to silence Lois Lane. Because she just discovered the development of a new Super-weapon by Lex Luthor. On the other hand, this Super-weapon may very likely also give an edge to the US in a superhuman warfare.
This is the K-bomb, a Kryptonite nuke.
Instead of using Uranium for fission, K-bomb uses the unstable radioactive element of Kryptonite for nuclear fission, and the energy output is off the scale. Superman can tank a nuclear bomb to the face, but this badboy will hurt.
Lois Lane wants to get this information published at the Daily Planet, but the US government doesn't want Russia or China to know of this yet. The agent gets close to Lois Lane, but is blocked by Clark Kent, who sees the gun with his super vision.
However, Clark suddenly loses his powers and collapse to the ground, there appears to be someone with Kryptonite nearby.
The agent gets a second chance to take out Lois Lane.

    HUMANITY FIRST EPILOGUE
    “KING FISH”
Arthur Curry returns from defending Oa with the Justice League, but he does not return as just the Aquaman… for after defeating his half-brother Orm, Arthur returns as the new King of Atlantis! Is the man who preferred to live a quiet life at a Lighthouse in Maine prepared to be the leader of a still-fragmented underwater nation?
The first order of business is the trial of Ocean Master: Orm sided with Vandal Savage, and in the process helped commit war crimes - not just against the Green Lantern Corps of Oa, but also against Black Adam’s nation of Khandaq, which was left completely devastated (see AQUAMAN #24). Yet an unlikely defense counsel steps forward on Orm’s behalf: King Shark of the Fisherman Kingdom will argue Orm’s innocence! And as it turns out, he’s a legal shark too! Can Crablad of the Brine be an effective prosecutor?
Meanwhile, Mera’s father and the ruler of the Atlantean city-state of Xebel, Ryus, sees an opportunity. For Xebel’s benefit, he commands his daughter to stop playing around and marry the new king. But Mera hates being commanded… has her father’s intervention ruined her relationship with Aquaman?

    Plotter: Marvell2100
    SOMETHING BETWEEN US
Tinisha, The Congo: It's been a week since David, Kia, Rick and Dakota barely escaped from Burendia with their lives after an intense battle with The Red Lion's forces. They think of Grifter, John Diggle and the Bronze Tiger who stayed behind, sacrificing their lives(Hey guys, we're still alive!) so that they could get out of the country. While Rick Flagg and Dakota return to the downtown federal offices to file their report, David and Kia are at his apartment and need some time alone to talk. Kia knows David's secret: David is actually Bat-Wing. She also knows that he has feelings for her.
David really isn't concerned about Kia knowing his secret identity, he's more interested in how she feels about him. Does she feel the same way he does? Is there a chance that they could develop a relationship? Kia tells him that she does have feelings for him and early on, she thought that they could pursue a relationship together. But now, after everything that happened, she's not ready yet. She needs time to reflect on everything and focus on her career. David tells her that he understands. She grabs her coat and walks out the door leaving David to wonder where does he go from here?

    Plotter: MARVELL2100
    Writer: JEFF LEMIRE
    Artist: ANDREA SORRENTINO
    THE LONG,DARK ROAD: PART II
After two weeks of a long treacherous journey, Connor, Avila, Tasha as Ghul and The Magus have reach the top of the mountain, the home of The Guild! Connor remembers the last time he was here, facing Billy Badass and eventually Richard Dragon, leader of The Guild. If it weren't for the intervention of Lady Shiva and the Left Hand Clan(See: DHoCH #29), they would not have made it out alive! However, looking around they see no signs of a battle, there are no bodies, no death and destruction. It's as though everything has been erased, like it never happened.
Suddenly, they hear the sound of soft music playing in the distance, the keys of a piano echoing in the night. They enter a chamber where they see a cloaked figure sitting in a dimly lit room with their back to them. As they approach, the figure turns and asks, who's there? They're all surprised to see that it's Richard Dragon looking disheveled and broken. He laughs as he tells them that he knows why they are here. They've come to kill the head of The Guild, to slay the dragon no pun intended. But killing him would not serve their purpose because he is no longer the head of organization that he created. The Guild has new leaders, far more dangerous than he is. Billy Badass and Anita Ass-Kicker now run The Assassins Guild!

    THE FLASH #43
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by ROBERT KIRKMAN
    Art by FRANK CHO
    HUMANITY FIRST EPILOGUE
    “WHERE TO RUN NOW?”
After years of conflict, the Flash has finally overcome his arch-enemy Vandal Savage. The immortal conspirator is no more… but his influence remains!
Barry has vouched for his protégés in the now-defunct W.O.A.H. Speedster Division (he trained them back when he was undercover in THE FLASH #32-36). These youths weren’t complicit in Vandal’s schemes like the Reverse Flash was - they were just innocent new metahumans that were manipulated by Savage like so many others. But in addition to the alien S’kidd-Flash, can Barry handle five additional speedster side-kicks: Fast Foodie, Running Shoes, Ziplock, Jack-Be-Quick, and Breakneck? And what happens when one of them… is a traitor?
Meanwhile, after exposing Savage’s massive, worldwide, millennia-old conspiracy, Iris West has gained prominence as the planet’s most bold and brave investigative reporter! Will her newfound fame hurt her relationship with Barry?
And what about Gorilla Grodd and the Rogues like Captain Cold and Heatwave who helped Iris stay alive long enough to publish her exposé? Are these former villains forgiven for their past misdeeds? And what about the woman who betrayed her own father? What about Scandal Savage?

    GREEN LANTERN #43
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by MARK MILLAR
    Art by JOE MADUREIRA
    HUMANITY FIRST EPILOGUE
    “UNITED”
After the events of Humanity First, Earth has proven itself to be a powerful, and dangerous, player on the intergalactic stage. Under the iron first of Vandal Savage, humans came close to subjugating the universe. Yet it was ultimately a coalition of species, led by heroes from Earth, that united to turn back the threat. It was working together that saved the day. The next step, therefore, is clear…
Earth is joining the UNITED PLANETS.
The influence of Vandal Savage and his illuminati, the Light, has been exposed - resulting in many arrests. The United Nations, embarrassed at being infiltrated and manipulated, seeks to rehabilitate Earth’s image in the eyes of the Galaxy. The vote is nearly unanimous. Earth is now part of the U.P.: a relatively new confederated organization of numerous intergalactic sovereignties, including Xudar, Bolovax Vik, Graxos IV, H'lven, and Noc'sag.
Earth’s representative to the U.P. also received a unanimous vote… Ambassador John Stewart now speaks for humanity! Is he up to the task?
And Earth isn’t alone! Mars has officially joined, with J’onn J’onzz as the red planet’s official representative. Could a major power like Thanagar be next to join?
The new leader of the Green Lantern Corps - Hal Jordan - has arranged for the GLC to become an official law enforcement branch of the U.P., working in conjunction with LEOs from member worlds. Unfortunately, thanks to Sinestro’s vital assistance during Humanity First, the Yellow Lantern Corps is also made an official peacekeeping branch of the U.P.! Can these two entities work together, especially when the GLC is in recovery mode and the YLC is more powerful than ever?

    'THE PRIORITIZATION HAP' Part 3
The Durlans’ connection to CAW is confirmed as they maintain their attack on Thal Chayera, our hero Hawkgrrl. They’re deep within the USA’s southwestern desert and she is forced to join forces with the human xenophobes she was sent to stop. Luckily some of the human terrorists are big fans of the Road Runner Coyote cartoon.
If the crew can defeat and control the Durlans, will Hawkgrrl be able to handle the terrorist whom she needs to save her life. And can she get any information of what other plans CAW might have on Earth?

JLβ #1 *80 Page Giant Premiere*
    Plot by NX01A
    Written by RAM V
    Art by JAMAL CAMPBELL
    'ARISE'
•No war is bloodless, and the dead are often the little people, the unknowns. There are funerals for fallen friends across Earth, and even heroes grieve.
•Dr. JOHN HENRY IRONS II, the armoured hero STEEL, mourns his old friend and mentor WILLIE WALKER in Metropolis. Amazon warrior NUBIA buries her lover ANTIANEIRAI in the Warriors' Rest of Themyscira. Mystic EXTRAÑO bids farewell to husband HUGH DAWKINS in Tasmania. In Japan, mercenary MIDNIGHTER plots to storm the afterlife and free partner APOLLO from whichever heaven he's in. And ETRIGAN the DEMON dances on the grave of former host JASON BLOOD.
•It calls itself S'AM SA'RA, an alabaster alien whose glowing touch resurrects the dead, and it represents a previously unknown race desirous of bringing back the best of humanity. Its services are limited and therefore select, and Steel, Nubia, Extraño, Midnighter, and Etrigan are given the chance to bring their loved (or hated) ones back.
•Funny thing, though, Willie Walker's grave is dug up... from the inside.
•And a green streak cuts through the atmosphere, barely decelerating enough to avoid hitting Earth at superluminal speed. SOJOURNER MULLEIN is the Green Lantern of a sector so far away that she didn't hear about VANDAL SAVAGE's interstellar takeover attempt until it was over. She may have missed Earth coming for the galaxy but, as she crawls from her impact crater on the outskirts of São Paulo, she prays she isn't too late to stop what's coming for Earth!

    THE QUESTION #43
    Writer: MARK RUSSELL
    Artist: BILL SIENKIEWICZ
    Plotter: CaptCleghorn
    “Who is the Blue Beetle?”
Vic is settling back into his national DCBA show in Hub City and his forays wearing the pseudoderm mask. While on his national tour, Merry (Girl of a Googleplex of Gimmicks) and genius college student Alice Tesla had done fairly well in keeping Hub City safe. The coming of the vigilante known as Pagan has had its good and bad points. But now, a colorful, far more traditional “superhero” known as the Blue Beetle. The Beetle has his gaudy Flying Beetle and soars the skies of Hub City not only stopping criminals, but inspires Hub City folk to be better citizens. Who woulda thunk it?
The old Aquarius complex outside the city has been purchased for basically fulfillment of back tax bills. The complex had been ransacked and cleared out of anything possibly being worth anything. Kord Industries has purchased the complex to use as a factory and warehouse facility. Unlike Aquarius, Kord is advertising to hire “real people”, that is, mainstream folk without PhDs and/or incredible scientific knowledge.
Kord Industries is also in negotiations with Sportsmaster and G.O.A.T. Lawrence “Crusher” Crock about finalizing plans for a minor league baseball club in the Hub.
Also, Lorelei Circe is getting involved in Vic’s “Me Too” case. Payments to her worker who had made the claims against Vic are argued as being either hush money or a payment to make false claims. Can Betty Bates, Lady@Law and the Siren get to the bottom of this, especially as Vic has a restraining order against him regarding the claimer.

SENSATION COMICS #32 *Starring Wonder Woman ‘74*
Written and Drawn by Amanda Conner
    Assisted by CaptCleghorn
“Visitor from Outer Space, book 1: Killer Queen”
    In your polyester suit,
    With matching platform boots,
And the old Red, White and Blue.
“My name is Andros. I represent a confederation of planets who have noticed your planet’s progression off its homeworld. Where an occasional foray is insignificant, your Skylab shows Earth plans to maintain a permanent presence in extraplanetary space. I am here to observe and make recommendations regarding homo sapiens travelling beyond planetary boundaries.”
And this it began. The woman known only as Andros also states that species eradication is a possible recommendation. The situation quickly becomes a United Nations issue. Diana (and Steve Trevor)’s US Government statuses become important as Steve makes attempts to get the USA and USSR on the same page with the situation. Wonder Woman tries to point out humanity’s efforts through science and art, but Andros is reticent to accept Earth’s praises.
Diana and Andros ride in the invisible jet back to Paradise island where Andros makes an unusual and surprising demand. Use the fabled lasso of truth on her. And we’re not going to give you the secrets here, but make you buy the book. But Andros isn’t who she says she is and even more puzzling is why she asked for the lasso if she was being duplicitous.
Plus, don’t miss the extraordinary “Women of 1974” variant covers.

"Siege on the Second Moon of Jupiter"
Under the great red eye of Jupiter, a small sun shines on the inner ecosystem in a new Fortress of Solitude.
In the frozen oceans of Europa, Superman has planted another piece of Sun Stone and created another Fortress.
However the small sun has attracted the attention of a space horror, and the Fortress is under siege.
Superman suddenly receives a warning from Jupiter of an alien invasion.
He flies to his Space Fortress, only to find the Fortress Gate broken and all his Superman robots defeated.
For this is not just any predator, this is a Sun Eater. The most powerful weapon created by the Controllers.
But this is actually a baby Sun-Eater, and it is starving because it does not have the powers to consume a real sun.
Thus the miniature sun created by Superman in his Jupiter Fortress becomes the perfect dinner for the Sun Eater.
And now, the Sun Eater turns its attention to Superman, as the Kryptonian cells are filled with juicy Solar Energy.
Can Kal El stop the Sun Eater, or will the all great all mighty Superman become baby food?

Short month, tight budget, buy all the books anyway.

ACTION COMICS #2 (I too am jumping on the Metallo bandwagon.)
AQUAMAN #28 (The father WANTS his daughter to marry the hero? I'm all in because this is such a change of pace.)
    BAT-WING #43 (Ouch. That's harsh.)
DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HAWKE #43 (Why would anyone named Badass be with someone named Asskicker? Seems a bit self defeating.)
THE FLASH #43 (Vic Sage now has Iris West on his list of "reporters I am insanely jealous of along with Lois Lane.)
GREEN LANTERN #43 (That Sinestro sure knows how to make use of opportunity.)
HAWKGRRL, AGENT OF CHECKMATE #6 *Humanity First Tie-In* (I'm positive a winged teenager holding a sign that says "Free Durlan Seed" will win this year's Eisner.)
JLβ #1 *80 Page Giant Premiere* ("ARISE" is my starter word for Wordle. You're welcome.)
MAN OF BRONZE #17 ("Fear and Loathing"? Oh, yes! Wild Turkey and Grapefruit for everyone!)
THE QUESTION #43 (You know, we've never seen this Blue Beetle and Ted Kord in the same room together.)
SENSATION COMICS #32 (Evidently the Cathy Lee and Denise Crosby joke didn't have the impact the writer of the book thought it would.)
SUPERMAN#2 (Obviously Sugar and Spike are needed to communicate with the baby Sun Eater.)
I’ll don the mask and wear the cape
If I am super, how can I wait?
