We present to you DC Next Dawn, a collection of all new fan-made issues on “sale” this month, SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2023!

What is “DC Next Dawn” and how does it work?

Next Dawn, previously known as “New Dawn,” is a fan fiction universe and solicitation game that has been in existence on the CBR boards for approximately ten years! It has gone through several iterations and has survived forum reboots! The way it works is that “plotters” write short solicitations for monthly comic books! Then participants “buy” the books they want to read! The books with the most buys get rewards. Sounds fun, right? So let’s do this! Which of this month's solicits interest and excite you? Let us know by posting which books you'd pick up in the virtual Next Dawn Store (this solicitation thread). You can pull as many as you'd like, but also consider your "virtual budget" when making your selections, as sales are used to reward our titles and plotters. Registers are open all month and sales are tallied at the end of the month.

Absolutely anyone can make purchases right here in this thread - so please do!. It’s free and is basically just saying “I’d read this” or “I like this!” So let us know!

Earth’s gain is the universe’s loss, as Pyra soon grows famished. Only the energy of the stars themselves can sate her hunger!
When a last-ditch effort from the Green Lantern fails to contain her, Pyra wrecks havoc in deep space.
The Omega Men are powerless to stop her, watching helplessly as she consumes the Sun of the Pegaron System in Sector 1313. The resultant supernova destroys the planet Xanshi!
Billions of lives — an entire people, entire cultures — dead, and at the hands of PYRA!
The United Planets — which counted both Xanshi and Earth as members — is terrified and furious in equal measures!
The menace of Pyra must be stopped — by any means necessary.
A hastily assembled armada follows Pyra from a distance as she makes her fearsome, final return to the planet Earth!

One morning, he wakes up to find himself in a quaint village on an idyllic island. The inhabitants are seemingly content in their existence off the global grid with no discernable contact with the rest of the world. And the quaint and relatively technology free Village does contain surprises of an unusual and potent nature.
Although his arrival was unplanned, was this part of Arno’s plan? If so, will he be able to withstand the inevitable fallout?

Two participants in an Army reunion at the local American Legion are enjoying an adult beverage or two. Charlie Dibble, currently a local police officer, and John Hall, still in the Army but now a Colonel catch up on old times and talk about their current lives. It seems the two have a lot in common as an anthropomorphic alley cat and an Army Sergeant are combing the neighborhood trying desperately to outscheme the other.

Unfortunately, Arion has developed feelings for Sharca as well! One is a noble royal trapped in a loveless marriage, the other a brave but aloof wizard whose greatest passion will always be magic. Are you Team Arion or Team Atlan?
In any event, this love triangle threatens Sharca’s emotional and physical safety. When Atlan II’s wife, Queen Cardarell, finds out, she aims to eliminate her competition! Will she inadvertently release the Zirandian that possesses Sharca and boil Atlantis?

He even had a hand in the regime-change in Uzikistan. A few weeks later, David receives a frantic phone call from his sister Madilyn. Her daughter has been acting strange lately. She dropped all of her old friends and started hanging out with this new group. She doesn't interact with her family and spends time in an enclosed farming commune outside of Manitou Springs, CO. No one is allowed inside of the commune who isn't a member. Madilyn tells David that she doesn't want to admit it but her daughter maybe a part of a cult!

One thing has become clear, even to Hans Leckter and the Extremists: they couldn’t kill Pyra even if they tried.
But Pyra’s threat is so great that even her friends, the G-Men, cannot deny that such a thing might be necessary!
They have a final ploy — a power-dampener, hastily but expertly constructed.
The hope is that if her godlike power is removed, she will be able to come back to her humanity. If not, then… a more permanent solution is on the table.
Their equipment alerts them to Pyra’s return — her location, the Pink family residence.
Arriving to confront her, they’re dismayed when she quickly overloads the power dampener!
As a desperate last stand, BASILISK attempts to appeal to the woman he loves. He seems to be succeeding, when PROFESSOR G attacks mentally.
Pyra’s raw power outmatches his, but her soul is divided by the humanity that Basilisk reawakened. The Professor manages to seal her power away!
Reduce back to the state of a mere human, Penelope Pink has the perspective to regain her human nature.
It seems like things are on the verge of the happiest ending they could have hoped for — when, without warning, the G-Men vanish before the Extremists’ eyes, Pyra included!

The United Planets declare: Pyra must die!
The assembled fleet of the the UP have abducted the G-Men from Earth, and hold them in custody.
This is only possible, however, because Pyra is no more! Her powers sealed mentally sealed away, Penelope Pink is but a mere mortal once more. One who admits her guilt.
That does not satisfy the United Planets, however. Not only do they fear her power should it return, but billions of lives were lost on Xanshi!
Justice must be served, and by an unprecedented unanimous agreement, United Planets sentences her to death.
Intellectually, the G-Men are hard pressed to disagree — but they are human, governed not by logic, but by emotion and passion!
They love Penelope, and in their hearts they believe her time as Dark Pyra is past!
Unable to let their friend be condemned, they object! But their only recourse may be futile.
Professor G invokes an obscure UP law to transfer jurisdiction to the Thanagarian Empire, where they have a right to trial by combat!

[Commander Titan]

ADVENTURE COMICS #1 -- Buying this one for "Comma Chameleon," which is both a great title and a wonderful story idea!
AQUAMAN #35 *Fire From Heaven tie-in* I love the sense of epic mythological high tragedy in the love triangle here. This feels like the best kind of tie-in issue, using the premise to the series' advantage.
THE FLASH #50 *Fire From Heaven tie-in - "Deicide Squad" is an inspired name. And focusing on Henry Allen really emphasizes the idea of family and legacy that Flash should be about!
JLβ #8 *Fire From Heaven Tie-In* - The Slow Children are a fun new element, and the Speed Force accelerating entropy is a worrying twist!
UNCANNY G-MEN #31 - Jumping in at the tail end of this Fire From Heaven storyline, but this seems a promising part 1, and I'm quite pumped at the line "where they have a right to trial by combat!"
