We present to you DC Next Dawn, a collection of all new fan-made issues on “sale” this month, OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2023!

What is “DC Next Dawn” and how does it work?

Next Dawn, previously known as “New Dawn,” is a fan fiction universe and solicitation game that has been in existence on the CBR boards for approximately ten years! It has gone through several iterations and has survived forum reboots! The way it works is that “plotters” write short solicitations for monthly comic books! Then participants “buy” the books they want to read! The books with the most buys get rewards. Sounds fun, right? So let’s do this! Which of this month's solicits interest and excite you? Let us know by posting which books you'd pick up in the virtual Next Dawn Store (this solicitation thread). You can pull as many as you'd like, but also consider your "virtual budget" when making your selections, as sales are used to reward our titles and plotters. Registers are open all month and sales are tallied at the end of the month.

Absolutely anyone can make purchases right here in this thread - so please do!. It’s free and is basically just saying “I’d read this” or “I like this!” So let us know!

But he’s been gone for so long… is there any place for him in this modern universe?
With the revelations about Arthur Curry’s distant lineage, Arion sees in Aquaman a descendant of the woman he once loved, the Zirandian-host Sharca, but also of the man who stole her away from him, King Atlan II. For now, Arion thinks it’s best to leave Atlantis and return to the otherworldly Realm of the Lords of Order. And Crablad asks to go with him! You know, to check the place out.
But Arion’s homecoming isn’t welcomed. It wasn’t planned. It is… chaotic. In his absence, the cosmic-entity Kismet amassed power and influence amongst the Lords of Order. She’s been pushing a more radically-ordered agenda - and the sometimes passionate Arion, more of an order-centrist, isn’t part of her plan! Kismet and her loyalists launch a surprise attack! THE NIGHT PEOPLE! Part 2
Doctor Moon and Sister Eve run a compound for wayward tens called The Children of The Night! This is where Ben and David have found David's niece Natalie who was reported missing by her mother. But Natalie like many of the other teens appear to want to be here. So exactly what is it being done here with these teens? Moon and Eve take Ben and David on a tour of their facilities where there appear to be happy people doing farm work and schoolwork.
David asks what exactly are these teens being taught. Sister Eve smiles and says that they are being taught to love themselves and to make the world a better place. But on the other side of the compound, Ben notices that there are groups being trained in hand-to-hand combat and how to use weapons. It seems to him he thinks that it's almost like they are being trained for war!

Long ago, in the Fourth World, a race of New Gods rose from the ashes of the Old. Amongst them was a God of Speed, fastest deity in the universe. Yet when war broke out between New Genesis and Apokolips, even he wasn’t fast enough to escape fate…. Captured by the darkest tyrant, he was imbued with the essence of death itself and gained the ability to kill with a touch. Thus was born the ultimate weapon… the Black Racer! After the “Fire From Heaven” event, United Planets’ President Arin Sur is scandalized. Her political enemies attack her as weak on security, especially after the destruction of Xanshi and the Pegaron System, and on criminal justice, as she was unable to carry out the judicially ordered execution of Penelope Pink, who chose to incinerate herself instead. At the same time Sur is seen as unreasonably protective of Earth, getting U.P. forces engaged in a conflict with the Khund Empire to protect the planet when many believed the Khund had justification for attacking. Her romantic relationship with the earthling John Stewart is blamed…
With elections coming up, President Sur needs a win - as does Stewart, the Representative of a now highly unpopular Earth. It is decided that stopping the Black Racer’s reign of terror must be that win!
Teaming with the Flash Family, John Stewart boards the G.L.C.S. Interceptor with Guy Gardner and the head of the Corps himself, Hal Jordan. They’re heading to the husk of Xanshi, the Black Racer’s last known location before communications were cut off. But what they find is so much worse than what they expected. The system is an absolute war zone!!
United Planets relief forces are nearly gone, overwhelmed by seemingly billions of the Black Racer’s insectoid carrion-fueled New Genesian Bugs! As the heroes join the fray of an impossibly intense battle, Stewart - overcome with guilt for allowing Xanshi to be destroyed, which in turn produced the mass death that empowered the Black Racer’s forces - rushes forth to challenge the God of Speed and Death! And he… is… touched!

•At perhaps the cost of their own existence, the Slow Children have brought WILL WALKER, STEEL, and the ÜBERADICATOR into The Weeds: a chronophagic parallel dimension obliquely intersecting reality. Apart from the hordes of TECHNO-ZOMBIES wearing the same two tormented men's faces, the trio's own matter and energy are being drained by the vampire plane. “TARZAN THE SUPREME”
By the year 1920, the legend of Lord Greystoke, John Clayton II, had already spread worldwide… though most knew him better as the incomparable Tarzan of the Apes! One man, however, took particular interest. For his own ends, Dr. Buck Davenport, MD, PhD, sought to separate the myth from reality…
Everyone knew about Tarzan’s uncanny agility, used to swing through trees with ease, and his prodigious strength, used to grapple with lions and other beasts. Few, however, knew of his superlative intellect. Far from the “Me Tarzan” brute many misunderstood him to be, he was rather quite the polymath. Accomplished pilot, equestrian, conservationist, and financial investor, he also had a special gift for linguistics: from teaching himself to read as a child, he quickly learned over twenty languages, including tongues from lost civilizations.
Many also mistakenly believed Tarzan’s gifts were wholly unique. Yet his son, Jack “Korak” Clayton, inherited many of Tarzan’s preternatural abilities. This suggests a genetic component.
Another popular misconception was that gorillas raised Tarzan. Not so. He was actually raised and nurtured by “Mangani,” a rarer and more human-like “missing link” species.
Thus, Davenport concocts a theory: when the infant Tarzan was nursed by his adopted ape-mother Kala, something in the Mangani’s milk changed him on a biological level... and hyper-evolved him into a peak human! If Davenport could capture a Mangani, he could replicate the process… and create an army of super-humans that his German associates would pay handsomely for!
Recruiting a significant force of mercenaries and animal trappers, Davenport launches an expedition into the Dark Continent… but the Lord of the Jungle accepts no threats to his jungle... or his Mangani family!

A quick examination of the lab revealed her to be the genetic amalgam of Basilisk and Levitation Lass.
To put it in more human terms… she’s the daughter of Irish Autumns and Penelope Pink.
Dr. Baiul runs a battery of tests on the child, and comes to the conclusion that she’s just what he appears to be. A baby. No Mister Whisper nonsense. Just a baby.
Basilisk, grieving and delighted in turns, decides to retire with the baby to his familial home in Hawai‘i… and he won’t be alone.
Accompanying him is Primus, who Basilisk now knows to be his long lost father, Prentiss.
The Omega Man won’t be remaining on Earth for long… but he’s decided to finally stop running away from his family!
Basilisk names the baby Ava Sharpe Autumns-Pink. (Everybody thinks it’s a bit of a mouthful, but is too polite to mention it.)
A happy ending? Not quite, but against all odds, something beautiful has emerged from the ashes…
